Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

I'd like this to happen but I will believe it when I see it personally. If we get Tevez and Eto'o though my perception of this happening may change.

Its a great post and I dont think you are far off with your logic, all I am saying is that 300k is just paper talk.

Cheers the point i make is that for Terry his salary from his playing contract, will not be his only income, if he decides to come to us. Sure he has his endorsements at Chelsea, but i honestly believe that in Gary Cook (he has history) we have the master of his trade when it comes to marketing high profile sportsmen. Terry would make more money than he could ever imagine!

Re: £300 grand a week for terry..£40 mill bid.

I'd buy Terry but £300k a week is just plain wrong which is probably what it is anyway knowing the Sun. No doubt with all his bonuses, endorsements, England money, wages and image rights he'll probably be on £300k already!

Re: £300 grand a week for terry..£40 mill bid.

This was already a waste of cyber space when the Sun published it.....

Re: £300 grand a week for terry..£40 mill bid.

The more realistic papers, you know the ones not designed for morons who will subsequently call into talkshyte and moan about 300k a week, are stating our wage offer is nearer 160k a week. Funnily enough, the same as eto'o who we were told would be on about 500million a week by the sun weren't we?

After spending nearly 12 hours on here yesterday and virtually getting divorced, im back for more!

For me this bid has got legs and here is why.

Dont get too caught up in his wages guys, i think that City and Mr Cook are looking at John Terry and possibly see him as the guy who will be the face of City/Umbro for England/Europe.

Cooky is the man when it comes to making huge and i do mean huge amounts of money out of someone's profile and having a guy like John Terry, already sponsered by Umbro, the England Captain and thus universally known, not only makes this a very sound buy on the footballing front but also a very sound buy on the marketing front. Its all about raising our global profile.

Terry = England/Europe

Eto'o = African Continent

Robhino/Tevez = South America

The guys in charge of our club lads are very very shrewd and clever and they know that as well as making a successful team its also possible to make a pot load of money as well!

The above is what will attract these players here, money does talk and dont let all this "Mr Chelsea" talk tell you otherwise.

Your post makes sense on a lot of levels, I do think however, that you think that Terrys profile on the continent is higher than it actually is.

Terry is a big star in England, but outside of England he is not even on the top ten list of famous footballers imo.
