Best part to come out of him saying something is that it will clear the chelsea boys off our forum in a days time

What have i said that isnt the truth?

look, theres no way hes leaving chelsea in this transfer window now, its not a game like the whole eto'o thing was with his agent trying to squeeze a loyalty payment out of his club, if Terry was going to sign for us he wouldnt have made this statement today. And if you dont agree with that your away with the fairies. i see what your saying and yes talk is cheap in football but as the england captain and mr chelsea, theres no way he says this and then leaves this window. theres more chance of benjani having a clean strike on goal

Fully understand you point of view mate but like i said i will see were we are come the end of August.

Like ive said, history tells me that statements mean fook all and nothing in football.

Re: Brace yourselves lads...

i would have liked him in a city shirt but im not suprised he has stayed at cfc.
in the cold light of day £40m for a 28and half year old with a growing injury record was a bit too much even for us.
you never miss what you never had so come on Mr cook get us a couple of class centrehalfs please.

Not sure what you mean, so I'll clarify...

I hope that the Sheikh doesn't allow too many more failures to be considered 'small stuff' that he doesn't need to 'sweat' as was described, and that he will get to the point where he has had enough and does what needs to be done.

Whatever that may be :-)

It's a veiled reference for the owner getting rid of Hughes, he mentions it a few times without saying it out loud, although he does on the Terry speaks thread
Ah. Okay. Cheers. I don't know he wouldn't just say he has doubts about Hughes.

Re: Brace yourselves lads...

We know where we have to improve our squad and I think there has always been a plan B..who knows..the Terry thing could be a nice smokescreen..

Some posters on here are starting to sound a bit arrogant. We have no god-given right to sign every player that we flash our bank balance in front of. If it were that simple then football would not be worth watching. Allegiances, friends, family, agent, fans, lifestyle, facilities, location, weather, schools, amenities, crime rates, gut instict, prejudices, misconceptions, fear, uncertainty and doubt might be just some of the considerations facing a player when deciding to join us or not. Some footballing reasons of course but many not. We have to offer far more than just money and promise. Some players will make the calculation of all the contributing factors and end up with a positive conclusion and others won't. That's life. Even if we one day become the biggest club in the world this will still hold true.

This 'they must come because we offered them so much money' mentality is just bollox frankly. The Sheikh will have been around the block and will understand that not everything in life revolves around money. It helps of course! But ultimately you cannot simply buy some people. They will make their own decisions based on a variety of factors and priorities unique to that individual.

Eventually the likes of Terry will be more likely to come but we have to walk the walk as well as talk the talk. Terry never fitted the likely profile of someone that we are able to attract at this stage of our development. Worth a try and a decent measure of progress perhaps, but we learn from this as with Kaka/ Eto'o and we move on.

Very sensible post.
