Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

I will go bonkers if this happen because of what it says about our financial power. If Chelski can't keep their "inspiratinal captain" even when theyfeel strongly enough about it to rage at City for making the offer, then something is very, very right about our club.

Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

WHen Ireland was subject to the bid from Sunderland, the club, well Hughes actually knocked it on the head. No statement was necessary from the player. Why is it any different? John Terry is not required to make a statement.

It could be that Chelsea feel they've spoken of JT's behalf, why would he come out and make a seperate statement if Chelsea told him they had everything in hand?

to placate the fans.

I agree thats a very much a possibility and would fit into the bigger jigsaw of all this.

But i just think putting too much emphasis of the lack of Terry's own statement is a bit brash. When we've gone for trasnfer targets or warned clubs off we make an official statement. We don't then have a seperate statement from the player... not often anyway.

i know mate, there is defo a case of some of us (me included...) who are trying to read into this probably a bit more than there is HOWEVER considering we went in at Xmas when we know for a fact he wasn't happy then we must have been encouraged to make this bid otherwise we would not have wasted our time; the rumours of us "leaving" the bid on the table and expected to go back with increased bid certainly makes me feel we know he wants to come.

The difference is the rumours that Terry himself has been interested in hearing what we have to say. The bid has come about from the knowledge that the player has given the signals. Completely different situation to Ireland/Sunderland

Its why the press were never interested in what United/Ferguson had to say when it came to Ronaldo. Because every time they asked him the question they got an ambiguous response.

Perhaps, but maybe this a bit different. The papers that are reporting this story have also said the player is very interested in what we have to offer and is keen to hear our plans.. A quick 'not interested' would close the story.

Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

I think you're all reading into this too much. We're not going to get John Terry.

Why would Mr.Chelsea himself leave his beloved club, in the prime of his career, for a team that finished 10th in the league last season and can't offer any type of European footy? I'm sorry but it's just not going to happen guys. Maybe someday we can attract the likes of Terry, but at this point in time the only big name players we're going to get are those who are desperate to leave such as Robinho.

I'm not being pessimistic but come on, we're not getting Terry. Not a chance in hell.

Were not getting Eto'o or tevez then?

Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

If this transfer went through it would be the biggest transfer of the summer bar none. Not so much for the fee(I think it'll be close on £35m-£40m),but for who it is.We would be signing the Chelsea and England captain, the backbone of their side.It would send a clear message to the world that we mean business.

I'm still not convinced he'll come.Just because JT himself hasnt come out and said he aint interested doesnt mean nothing. For all we know JT might have been informed of the bid by Chelsea and said he wasnt interested and instructed Chelsea to put out a statement saying they weren't interested and leave it at that.

Terry withdraws from Testimonial
Posted on: Sat 04 Jul 2009

Due to unforseen circumstances John Terry has had to withdraw from today's Testimonial match for Yeovil Town manager Terry Skiverton.

We hope to have a personal statement from John to the Yeovil supporters on this site later today.
