Terry withdraws from Testimonial
Posted on: Sat 04 Jul 2009

Due to unforseen circumstances John Terry has had to withdraw from today's Testimonial match for Yeovil Town manager Terry Skiverton.

We hope to have a personal statement from John to the Yeovil supporters on this site later today.

doesn't necessarily mean anything... maybe he just couldn't find a disabled parking space outside the ground and had to head back home.

I think you're all reading into this too much. We're not going to get John Terry.

Why would Mr.Chelsea himself leave his beloved club, in the prime of his career, for a team that finished 10th in the league last season and can't offer any type of European footy? I'm sorry but it's just not going to happen guys. Maybe someday we can attract the likes of Terry, but at this point in time the only big name players we're going to get are those who are desperate to leave such as Robinho.

I'm not being pessimistic but come on, we're not getting Terry. Not a chance in hell.

Were not getting Eto'o or tevez then?

I don't know, I think we might. I don't know there whole stories but it seems to me Tevez was desperate to leave due to lack of playing time and unfair treatment, and Eto'o is being forced out and going to the highest bidder. Terry's a different situation. You can't lump them all together.

You are probably right.... But, money talks mate, that is a fact.

The difference is the rumours that Terry himself has been interested in hearing what we have to say. The bid has come about from the knowledge that the player has given the signals. Completely different situation to Ireland/Sunderland

Its why the press were never interested in what United/Ferguson had to say when it came to Ronaldo. Because every time they asked him the question they got an ambiguous response.

They are only rumours that he is interested. Nothing concrete. I could say i have heard rumours that he likes all this going on because he wants a better deal out of chelsea.

Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

Chelsea club CAPTAIN! should imo release a short statement to chelsea fans via the club website dismissing the offer out of hand! (IF HE'S NOT INTERESTED)

What we are doing on this thread right now would stop if he did the above, not just us but the media in general. He was quick to sack us off last time but his silence now is imo deafening!!

Imo if JT does not make an announcement the rumour and media spotlight will intensify and i'm fairly confident chelsea don't need the hassle. I'm also confident that chelsea will of asked JT to release a statement for the sake of the fans.

Remember "our bid" remains on chelsea's table and as long as that's the case rumour will persist.

Imho JT is very very interested!

I agree. It would be the absolute minimum in this sort of situation, particularly seeing has how a lot of Chelski fans around all the fans forums are demanding clarification and they aren't getting it. That said, perhaps he is planning an announcement to confirm that he's planning to stay? Could have done that yesterday or earlier today, though. I am conflicted. I am in need of a tea leaf reading.

JT probably realises he has 3-4 years left due to his back/knees so will want to make as much money as possible for his retirement. He would earn £40k a week more at City plus other endorsements(Umbro) which is roughly £8m+ over the term of the contract.

I guess he'd be foolish not to at least talk to us.

Rival fans may not see it,but I'm sure professional footballers can see where we are heading and with the cash available is a huge incentive.

Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

Ok here is the way I see it

after the KAKA debarcle how many of you think GC would go through that again if he/city had not had the nod from JT or city players or both..

come on hands up

totally agree, only john terry can put this one to bed imo. he would save everyone alot of time and effort ! if hes using us to get a payrise out of chelsea then its a very poor fucking show.we're not just going in blindly with this, if terry wasn't batting his eyes at us we would not being going back a second time just to look daft again.

terry is instigating all this, either because he wants to come or to get more money from chelsea !

i hope it's not the latter
