Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

I said it before but we cant really loose with this one. The best CHelsea can hope for on this is paying a player they already have under contract for 3 years another £50k a week. Even if he stays it shatters the "Mr Chelsea " image.

Its obvious he has taked to our people and shown an interest or we wouldnt be making all these offers..

I just feel we can get get a couple of players that are pretty much as good in Lescott and Calvalho / Lucio etc for half what Terry would cost and its actually a realistic proposition.

THis is just a tactic to massively destabalise a club we are aiming to compete with. Unsettle their best player, make them pay money they dont want to so it improves our chances of geting Tevez and any other players they might be competing with us for. I honestly dont believe Hughes and co think this guy will come to us in the end.

At the end of the day most sensible city fans know we wont get him but its still a bit of fun. If we do end up getting him well it will just be incredible. The only side that wil loose in this is Chelsea IMO which ever way it goes.

Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

I don't know if it's been said before, but I agree that this bid has a significance beyond us actually signing terry.

The bid was made at a meeting over Danny Sturridge, a city player who has been courted for several years by Chelsea. City have responded in kind by courting, in an open and legal manner (as far as we know lol) their club captain.

The message? City have balls. Our clout is increasing by the day. We are no-one's patsies. Underestimate us at your peril.

Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

Message : Dont fuck with us or its going to cost you.

I bet they think twice about going near any of our players again.....

For people who still don't believe that Terry is a very real possibility they need to ask themselves a few questions:-

-Why would we make another bid for him?

Could be a few reasons. Maybe Terry's camp, knowing of your interest, encouraged it so he could get a better contract at Chelsea.

-If he's so in love with Chelsea and wants to stay there for the rest of his career as captain (as Ancelotti has said) why hasn't he come out and just given a quick statement saying he doesn't want to leave?

Terry did make a statement after City's first bid. The club rejected both and made it clear that he's not for sale. He doesn't have to make a statement. That media hysteria really got a lot of people here reading too much into it.

Then, for the people who are wondering why would he want to come to City:-

-We have a British manager and stability, not chopping and changing manager every 3 months.

Hughes has been with City for just one year and he didn't exactly impress considering the squad he had and expectations from the new owners.Let's wait and see how patient they will be after spending yet more money if things don't improve dramatically in a new season. Chelsea had their worst season in years in 2008/09 but still looked and performed on a different level to City. Check out the PL table.

-Bridge and SWP are there, both very good friends with him.

So? Lampard,Ashley and Joe Cole are his friends, too. Maybe he should go to United, since he's quite friendly with Ferdinand and Rooney.

-We are aiming for something, we are moving forward, signing the best in the business.

You're aiming for something we've been having for quite some time. A few years from now you may overtake one of the top four sides(possibly Chelsea) but as it stands now you've got a long way to go.

-We have passionate fans, something which has been lost at Chelsea.

I seriously doubt Terry will ever be appreciated y any other fans as much as he's revered at Chelsea, for obvious reasons.

-We will be aiming for top 4 so he SHOULD be back in the Champions League next year.

That's quite a jump - from the 10th spot to at least 4th. Not impossible, but I don't share your confidence. Even if you did, so what? Terry wants to win the CL and he has only 3-4 years left to do so. Next thing you're going to tell me he's got a better chance of winning in Europe with City than Chelsea in the next few years? Please.

Finally, why would Chelsea sell him?

- They would get around £30-40m for him and this is their last chance to sell him for any real money and Abramovic doesn't seem as keen to flash the cash anymore so this would pay for Lucio and Maicon with plenty of change left over!

Selling Terry will require Chelsea to look for the replacement, equal or similar in terms of individual quality and those players aren't exactly readily available and cost a fortune when they are. I'm not going even mention the effect of losing JT would have on the club since you can't put monetary value on such thing as leadership and a fighting spirit.

Poor Bob......

Your arse is twitching mate......

Re: Chelsea reject Terry offer [Merged]

I think there is a very real possibility that Terry is considering joining us which would be just amazing and exactly what we need to push us further on.

Terry knows that we are a team on the up, the Chelsea team is ageing and they lack the funds - now Abramovich has closed the wallet - to get the necessary quality to replace the players that will only regress as they get towards the twilight of their careers.

He also knows that he would be the catalyst that would attract other world stars to our club having a domino effect. Ally that to the fact that money is not an issue and we can pretty much buy who we like he knows that we will be the force to be reckoned with in the next couple of years.

Plus, he is nearing the end of his career and like anybody wants to maximise his earning capacity in the final years of his career. Who wouldn't do that after all ?

This is quite phenomenal, and if it happens I will finally start to believe that we CAN win things and be a dominant force in European football.

The passion of the City fans and the fact that we haven't won for 30 years means that we will savour winning something more than ANY Of the top four.

I liken it to the first time you get drunk - you think it's amazing - however like any drug (I guess) the more you do it you still enjoy it but it's never the same and you need more to get the same effect. The problem with football is there is only 4 trophies up for grabs so eventually the winning just doesn't satisfy you anymore (Pretty much like the rags)

This is a fantastic challenge for Terry and when we finally wn something the players in our team will never have experienced anything like it.

Great post. Although JT wouldnt be a marque singing like robinho, he would give us so much credibility and other top players even Gerrard would look at it.

He is a leader, organiser and winner.

I am seriously wondering if this is why Barry joined, did he know about this when on England duty???

Futures bright, futures Blue, Sky Blue!
