It doesn't really, not this summer at least. Theoretically, Terry would be able to use that option next year when he has two years left on his deal. At £135,000 a week it would cost him around £14 million.

So effectively Terry is in the last year of his deal, similar to Eto'o.

So Chelsea might feel that taking 35-40 million now is better than 14 million next summer

thanks for that, was'nt sure how long he had left .seems it is out of Chelsea's hands now ,just up to him and us to come to an agreement. Strange how the press have missed such a crucial point, well spotted.
