Not in my opinion no. I reckon Terry is exactly the type of player we need to break the top 4. Lescott & Toure are good players and certainly better than what we have but not in the Terry class.

Well hes not comming and realistically it was never going to happen so as with Eto we move on to other targets that will get us where we are going.

We dont just throw our toys out of the pram and stop, I am confident we will get the players we need.

Don't know how close he came to leaving Chelsea but he was always going to say there was never a possibility of him leaving, which I predicted on another forum (hardly a prize winning prognostication, I know), if he stayed. It will be mildly interesting to see if he gets a pay rise; however, it's simply time to move on. I assume City will step up their interest in Toure and Lescott. We could still do with finding an inspirational leader but they are thin on the ground; although I think Barry and Tevez will improve us in that regard. I'd like to see Hughes look overseas too for another defender; I'd imagine Puyol would be almost as hard to prise from Barca as Terry from Chelski but Bruno Alves could be worth a punt.

Because Chelsea have better players than us. If Terry doesn't play for Chelsea they have Carvalho and Alex we'd have Dunne and Richards. Spot the difference!

Correct, but that does not mean we should not try to get fourth does it?

I dont want Hughes to just focus on keeping his job, he should try and get us as high up in the leauge as possible.

i know what you are saying m8 but from what ive been hearing so much lately from hughes and the players i seriously doubt top 6 is on there minds.

its easy for us to set a top 6 target without putting to much pressure on the team but with the players coming in i really do think in the minds of cook, hughes,the owners and the players that target has has moved up a place or 2 imho.

I have to say i am elated he has decided to stay as i think if you had managed to sign terry you would be favourites for the title. However i am dissapointed in the number of man city fans who seem to be pleased you havent won his signature. Terry brings fantastic leadership to a club, he is a great role model for the youth team and always has time to offer support. One thing you guys wont see on the tv but at games is how he leads the team when going a goal down or when someone makes a mistake, he is great at lifting the players as well as being a cracking centre half. Onouha i rate highly and i think terry would have made him a much better player as well as richards. Terry has had his injuries but ask any chelsea fan what we were like without him for ten games, and when we had him for 30. I actually think you were very close to signing john and i wouldnt have slagged him off had he gone. City are the new sensation, im sure many players would love to be part of what your building. Just dont come after lampard next although i bet a lot of you would say hes crap etc, when he is the mr chelsea, unbeleivable player. Fair comments, probably 3 players you have I would love to see in a light blue shirt, Terry, Lampard and Essien.
Disappointed Terry has decided to stay with you, but totally understand why, quality defender, great leader, exactly what we need.
I expected this to be honest, and hope now we will go after Toure and Upson, (but not at the £15m quoted for Upson!)
I still think we have a very good side, just need a couple at the back.

I still think you will make the top 4, you have signed some excellent players and at home i dont think you will lose or draw many games. away however will be whether you make it or not. I actually hope you do as i would like to see arsenal get a big wake up call they need. In my opinion i would like to see onouha play alongside someone like terry for his development as i can see him being a good centre back for england, whether lescott can be that man, well have to see. Being a chelsea fan, we have high hopes for this year, our squad is on the decline and if were going to win things i feel it needs to be this year while ballack etc can still perform at their best. We havent spent alot again although were still heavily linked with pato. In my ideal world i would like to see us win the league with you guys coming 2nd and i think its actually a major possibility.
