Dyed Petya please could you expand on how ADUG could ever re-coup decades of expenditure in City, based on developing Sports City?
What ever gets built on the site, it's still going to be in the middle of Chatsworth & therefore never really gain in terms of real estate value....

Without asking you to divulge sensitve info please could you elaborate on the differences between the Sheik & Roman Abramovich? Is this purely financial power, or does it include business acumen.
I dont think I will fully comprehend the wealth of our owners..............

Watching Abramovich on TV he always reminds me of Prince Andrews retarded twin....(And I dont mean Edward or Charles either!)

Manchester City Council are asking for bids for the site that will generate 3 million visitors per year, for the site prerviously proposed for the Super Casino. I don't know the economics of it, but the private sector partner will put in, initially, GBP 300 million. Then there's the site that was originally earmarked for a cricket ground for Lancs/England at the north of the SportCity venue. Who knows what may be planned for that.

Hard to assess the exact economics of it without seeing the plans, but these sovereign funds from the Middle East basically aim to make money once the oil runs out. Here, if they attract three million people a year to SportCity for reasons other than to watch sport, it doesn't take a huge profit per person over the long term to make for a lucrative project.

As for other questions, Roman made his business in Russia at a time when circumstances were very particular. Conventional business acumen didn't necessarily help very much in the especially unusual conditions of the time, but a low level of cunning, the ability to make political connections and extreme ruthlessness did. RA had all these. It's not necessarily a guide as to who might propser in more normal exonomic circumstances.

On the other hand, our Sheikh inherited his wealth, so he's hardly an example of a self-made man either. The fact that he was born as heir to a vast oil fortune doesn't necessarily make him a financial genius.

What I was referring to was the motivation behind the investment. RA, I firmly believe, saw Chelsea as primarily a response to conditions in his homeland (though, as he invested publicly, he also wanted success for reasons of prestige). The Sheikh, I believe (we'll see if I'm right in due course when proposal for the SportCity land are unveilved), has a greater long-term business interest in City.

Yup, the page is gone.

Petya, was his Russian really *ahem* kosher? I ask because I was astonished at the clarity of the google translation.

Cheers for getting back to me. Is there potential for the Sheik to leave us high & dry (I mean no more investment & left with a crippling wage bill) say in 10 years if their plans or expectations for SC dont look like coming to fruition? I know this is merely speculation, but I'd like your take.

How highly do you rate the Russian league? And are there any gems we could pilfer for a decent fee?

The comments from Lampard and Essien make it seem as though they are accepting that he will soon leave.

I know what Lampard said but what did Essien, say exactly?
