Would've been a big scalp that silenced those who say we can't attract the really big players, instead it's one more to the list of the lost. We're going to take a lot of stick for this. Having said that, as long we sign at least one good defender and have a good start to the season it will pale in to insignificance very soon.

Thanks for all the interesting views over the last few weeks, it's been real.

What isn't a surprise to me as a Chelsea fan, though, is how quickly so many fans become so arrogant. From slating off other clubs for buying the league, to thinking it's okay to buy anyone and everyone - not my views but gleaned from comments in this topic.

Good luck for the coming season, and I hope nobody else turns you down.

Yes it was a surprise that so many Chelsea fans became so arrogant so quickly. The very best of luck with Sturridge.

pam - i thought players never issued statements to say they were staying with clubs... it is always done at big press conferences right?

So it's not ok to buy anyone and everyone? Since when was that rule introduced? Hughes, Cook etc will try and buy anyone they think will improve our squad and theres nothing wrong with that, some we won't get and some we will

Re: Terry Speaks

You should amend the title of the thread to say "Terry Speaks Shite" because all this committed to Chelsea crap is simply now that he's used the speculation about us to improve his contract. Tosser.

Fuck off you obnoxious cockney twat.

Harsh?

Obviously I wanted JT here because he is quality but at least it's all been settled now and we can move on to other targets. At least it's not going to run on until the window shuts. I think deep down we all knew this was going to be the most likely outcome. One thing I do find funny is how all these chelski fans on ssn have changed their tune so quickly and the fact they seem to think he won't be getting an improved wage for staying there. Anyway like I said it would have been great to have pulled this one off but it's only early days in our progression so now we move on and I for one would be chuffed if we get Lescott and Toure. CTID

Cheers for the debate, guys, I've found it genuinely interesting.

Good luck for the next season and lets oust the red scum!

I'm elated that Terry is staying, but I wonder if a lot of it was based on money.

Either way, good luck guys! May be back on here soon.

He'd have been a great signing and we gave it a real go to get him. Didn't work out, so we move on. He'd also have been over-priced at what we'd have had to pay to get him, so that's a consolation of sorts, I suppose.

Serious question - worth a go for Carvalho? Do any Chelsea fans still here think they'd let him come to us, and would he be a good buy if they did?

I think Chelsea are our dear neighbours' most likely challengers for the title this season. I therefore hope that Terry can inspire them to first place.

What Terry said "I never had any intentions of leaving Chelsea".

What Terry meant "I've managed to get an improved contract now so I'll stay".

They may not announce the contract straight away, but mark my words he'll be "committing his future to Chelsea" in the form of a huge payrise in the very near future.

Cheers mate.

We don't mind you staying :)

Re: Brace yourselves lads...

Not bothered personally lets go and get Bruno Alves instead...

Even if Terry staying was based on him getting more money out of you you can't really blame him as anyone in that situation would have done the same, fair play to him for staying with you and being respectful in his comments. We all want to earn as much as we can so i have no problems with Terry trying to get as much money as he can out of Chelsea considering he'd more than likely to earning a lot more if he were to move to us
