A little disappointed. Not the end of the world though.

He only stayed as Chelsea wouldn't sell and he would never risk telling Roman he wanted out.

Time to move on. Lescott we need. Also wouldnt mind some sort of monster centre back. No nonsense , tough tackling hard case. Problem is.....who?

First we have the rant from Taggert and now we have the " Badge Kisser " pledging his Loyalty ???? to the Club he loves or alternatiely has just screwed for a big pay increase. This has been a good day to be a City fan. We have not had a day as good as this since, since, er last Saturday when we signed Adebayor or the Monday before when we signed Tevez.

good, didn't want him. many better centre backs out there, he only looks as good as he does cause of the quality around him
absolute bollocks, he is a very good player but more important one of the best on-the-pitch leaders in the game

Hughes and Cook are just looking like stupid c*nt that haven't left this deal before this greedy bastard released his hero statement to the world. This news will cause Lescott and Toure capture harder by 100 times (if there's no pre-contract agreement signed before.).

Get real ffs. This was never going to happen. But it has done no harm whatsoever. Hughes and Cook are doing a fantastic job this window and they aren't finished yet. Now we will close in on the more realistic targets.

I have to say i am elated he has decided to stay as i think if you had managed to sign terry you would be favourites for the title. However i am dissapointed in the number of man city fans who seem to be pleased you havent won his signature. Terry brings fantastic leadership to a club, he is a great role model for the youth team and always has time to offer support. One thing you guys wont see on the tv but at games is how he leads the team when going a goal down or when someone makes a mistake, he is great at lifting the players as well as being a cracking centre half. Onouha i rate highly and i think terry would have made him a much better player as well as richards. Terry has had his injuries but ask any chelsea fan what we were like without him for ten games, and when we had him for 30. I actually think you were very close to signing john and i wouldnt have slagged him off had he gone. City are the new sensation, im sure many players would love to be part of what your building. Just dont come after lampard next although i bet a lot of you would say hes crap etc, when he is the mr chelsea, unbeleivable player. Good luck next season guys, i look forward to welcoming you to a fa cup final!

A good post for a change, well said mate.
There are a lot of naive City fans who make themselves sound like hypocrites. John Terry would have been a fantastic signing for us, but IMO it was probably too much of a decision to make, a very tough decision in fact, to leave Chelsea and join our revolution. It is now time to move on and find a new target in the same mould, to lead our fantastic club forward.

It's hardly a suprise

Hello Upson :-(

I'll be surprised if we do get Upson. I don't feel he would improve us.

Ya Hughes said in one South africa interview that they are not looking to buy players that only marginally improve the squad, he said we need players who are on another level compared to what we have. I don't think Upson qualifies, Lescott maybe.

Wow wow wow calm down, whats all this City look like Cunts buisness now??????

Chelsea look like Cunts, they have just upped a players wages by a vast ammount at our requst, leaving them a smaller budget to take us on with.... Mission accomplished if you ask me, well done City. Now lets hope terry stays true to form and is out for 30% of the games with a back injury.

I say again 2 or 3 from Lescott, Toure, Upson and Alves will give us a top 4 quality squad overall if we keep all the quality we have.

Take a look on paper we might be slightly weaker in defence but our midfield and forward line up more than makes up for it.

I actually see this as a positive, it was never going to happen and just turned into one big distraction and circus event. Maybe we can actually get in the 2 or 3 quality defenders we really need now that actually want to play for club and are not going to piss us around for 3 or 4 weeks during crucial pre season.

Look how quickly Adebayor happened when Eto fell through, hopefully more of the same.

This isnt a victory for Chelsea either, struggling to keep their captain having to pay a load of extra money to a player already under contract for 3 years. Its ruined their us tour and certainly distracted them from making other signings they need.

Its done us less harm than Chelsea no doubt about it !

Fair comments, probably 3 players you have I would love to see in a light blue shirt, Terry, Lampard and Essien.
Disappointed Terry has decided to stay with you, but totally understand why, quality defender, great leader, exactly what we need.
I expected this to be honest, and hope now we will go after Toure and Upson, (but not at the £15m quoted for Upson!)
I still think we have a very good side, just need a couple at the back.
I'm still excited about the new season, this news hasn't affected it, and if you are right about the Cup Final....see you there, I'll buy you a pint!

I feel like I've been dumped by a girl I never really fancied in the first place. Odd feeling really.

I know how you feel. Was gutted after Eto'o, but not too upset with this.

What I am disappointed about is something I am not allowed to mention for fear of mobilising the Hughes Defence Force.

It will be interesting to see how the Sheikh reacts if the reports that his instructions were to get Terry at any cost are true.

Simple fact seems to be he demanded a marquee signing this summer and it hasn't happened (yet). And yes, I am delighted with the signings we have made, but we have missed out on our top targets very publicly three times now, and that is not good.

Now everyone has heard of City. For the last 3 weeks we have been all the talk on Skysports, Talksport, etc, etc. I think it could have only gone better if he'd have signed. Even though he isn't going to we are now taken seriously and people think we will sound be big players not just in England but in Europe.

Now news international can beat us with the more to life than money. How JT has turned down 300,000(yep it will increase, its already 260,000 double his 130,000) to stay at Chelsea. Doomsday scenario, salary cap needed and all the rest of the shit. JT has led Mark Hughes a merry dance.

Please stop whining.

How did end season before last? Skint billionaire (allegedly we had blokes looking over the books and administration was mentioned), 8-1 laughing players at Boro, captain sent off. Please, take the time today to do just a little research into the players we were linked a year ago.

It's been less than a year since Sheikh Mansour showed up, and if you've been paying attention some amazing work, some great changes (not just in material things) are going on. The fans forums are great, new website improving all the time, staff morale improved (doesn't just need Cook or the press to tell us that...), plans for the museum and making COMS less generic, some kind of big thing for the Aniline area and so on and so on. The players we've got since January...Ireland...Weiss trying the break in...Ned...and some wee guy from Brazil versus Kaka's church roof falling in during a storm, Eto'o being difficult, and Terry sticking not twisting. Honestly.

We are being taken seriously. No one is laughing, and if they are, it is as false as a Fergie honest moment - and, despite the man's hypocritical ranting, he is something of a weathercock.

What about Tevez ? Adeybayor ? and Barry ? For any other side including Liverpool and Chelsea these would be huge signings !

Get a grip !

SLap in £30 million bid for LEscott cash. £15 million for Toure, £25 Million Bruno Alves and if we dont get 2 or three of them £ 10 or £15 million for upson. Unlike that time wasteing mercenary we will have an answer in a week and can finally get on with preparing for the new season with a settled squad.

Like I said last night Fuck Terry and anyone else if they dont want on this train !

it'll be interesting to see what city do now, and Sheikhs reaction, he can't be happy with this

I would think the next thing City do would be to try and sign some other centre-backs.

i dont care what any of you say not getting john terry is a major dent to us not getting into the top 4 imho which i have no doubts what so ever that hughes cook and the owners what this season coming.

sorry but some of you are being so deluded that terry was not right for us i try to look on the footballing side of things here and it really is a shame we could not get him he would of made the difference between 4th and 5th place to us.

i trust manchester city have a plan if not terry sombody else but we wont get much better than terry,we are still on the up without terry so all is still good and lets see what we can get defensive wise before the window closes or even more hopefully before the first game of the season.
