Just seen that interview, because I couldn't quite bear to watch it yesterday. To my eye, Micah looks quite close to tears right the way through it. Look at the way his mate Lescott watches him all the way through.
O.k. I understand, at this level of the game it's not about sentimentality. But I'm just not convinced that he can't come back. Yes, he played poorly this season the few times he appeared. How much match practice has he had? Honestly? Only the very best players in the world, the Sergios of this world, can come back from two months out (let alone one and a half seasons) and just be, bang, at the top of their game.
I think we should persist with him, and get him fit. He was good in 2011-12, and the player I saw wasn't a stupid player at all in terms of footballing intelligence, he was very rarely injured, as I remember it (so it's not written in the stars) and he gave us width and pace with those overlapping runs that led to quite a few goals. Why do people think that Sagna would be better, necessarily?
