Jonny Evans

Durham gave us a right slating saying the rag supporters & rest of the league would be laughing at us while Gough was arguing the case with him. He was then shot down with the calls that were coming in from rags, wba & city fans saying it was a decent move. Sort of pissed on his fireworks. I don't particularly want Evans here but was good to see that gobshite shot down in flames. Even went on to take the piss about money spent on defenders as no one agreed with him.

You sound like a Rag, Muffin.

Heard he's coming on the promise of joining up with Phil Jones when we buy him in January.

.... not really but it made me laugh

Mbappe is a challenge but know way could we sign Phil Jones and stay within FFP. Bit gutted you had my hopes up for a second.

It's not a signing I'm particularly enthused about either, to be honest. I just think some people are being absurd, bearing in mind he'll be our fourth choice centre half. Talking about giving up season tickets etc is ridiculous.
Imagine giving up your season ticket and City win the league just because of a signing. YCMIU.

Maybe he would be better served on loan, I think that will be the best for him if Evans comes.

But having no experience has nothing to do with not being good enough. It seems to be the thing said about every young player who eventually leaves because we don't give them a chance. But we'll never know if we never give them an opportunity. We're starting to see signs of some of those "not good enough" for us breaking through with other teams at our level.
This!

Pep has said it himself, when they are good enough they are ready to play in this team. His passing was actually more than good enough in pre-season(how anyone wasn't impressed I do not know he's obviously worked hard on it and deserves credit for that), never saw him making the mistakes he used to and he is looking comfortable with the ball at his feet. I'm not having this notion that we know Evans can play this passing game... he's never played in a team that does it, Tosin has already convinced me he can. His positional sense and all around defending is also looking more assured he barely put a foot wrong, he was also great in the air... but in fairness I don't recall him being tested much in the games we had so although the signs are good there is a slight risk(same with Evans though IMO).

What he can't do is lead obviously which along with his defending is the reason we are going for Evans IMO, he has plenty of PL experience for sure... but lets not fool ourselves even if we do sign him the step down from Kompany to him is huge, the price is not good value for money at all and I'm concerned if he has pace up to our standard which could make him a weak link(remember Demichelis vs Rashford?) in certain situations. Then there's the concern about committent which was(along with the price) the main resistance to the Walker deal thankfully he is running his socks off for us or himself as a professional(much the same as Tevez did) and hopefully will continue to do so. Maybe this would be the same but Evans is a rags fan will he bust a gut for us if Kompany gets injured and he has yards to make up to get back when Vardy and the like try and break the offside trap? There's quite a few unknowns and negatives to this deal if it does get made.

I'm not sure what Tosin will make of it if we sign him for £20m he may be pissed off that he isn't getting the chance now and leave or he may see the silver lining that we didn't splash out £50m on someone younger who could block his path for far longer. Maybe he will look at Evans see his weaknesses and say to himself before long I can displace him if I show I'm better in training.

I'm still going to have to say I think it's a bad choice, I would be happy to be proved wrong and it turns out great but I have to call it as I see it. I still have faith in Pep on the whole, we don't have to agree with everything.

Bottom line

If we sign him and he wears a City shirt I will support him.
I doubt he'll be agent Evans.
If he can do a job and Pep believes he can, all good
If he gives Vinny some time to recover, all good
He knows the Prem, so all good.

He's an ex rag, so was Tevez and Law
Didn't want Bellamy but changed my mind

Yesterday I was appalled, today I'm more reasonable
Same for me.

Those fans who want a £50m signing. If you go own that route it's clear who starts Kompany and your new signing and Stones gets relegated down the pecking order and although he might recover from that, more likely it's the beginning of the end.
Utter tosh!

First of all a shout out to evans for his role in 1-6. Great job that day pal. As per question of him coming to city i would be honest i dont like him but to say he isnt a good defender or wont improve our defense is wrong. A solid backup is what we needed considering kompany's injury record.

I am also gutted for mangala thought he did enough to earn a season under guordiola and it pisses me of to think it will be another loan deal. Have had enough with these stupid loan deals for players we spent considerable money on.
