Jorginho

You play a waiting game. As in poker. You know which cards are in your hand. At a certain point, you get up and walk away from the table. Or you judge that it's still worth sitting at the table.

Compromise or walk away, everything has a value in life and if you think it's too high for you then you walk away
Exactly, they’re having us over, and we move on, is my view, but, If Pep wants him I’m sure that City eventually get it done. Though to my, admittedly untutored eye, he looked nowhere near worth the £60 million that Naples are asking for, in that friendly Italy played last week

There’s never been a second bid, same journalist said early don’t believe all those other numbers thrown around. That’s why we’re still 10M off. And if it’s €50M that will do and Kovacic’s release is €50M, Seri doesn’t have a clause because they don’t do clauses in France..... then Jorginho should def be the deal to complete.

I think your right mate..If we dont want to pay 50mil for Jorginho, its unlikely we'd meet the release clause of 50mil for Kovacic, so we'd have to negotiate a lower fee......From the reports, it would seem Napoli are backing down alittle and are trying to sign replacements, so its looking like the Jorginho deal could get done soon...

Thought it was €60 million = £52 million
But the usually media doesnt know the difference between a € and £. Suprised they dont quote the fee in Thai Baht (2,257,944,204)

Thanks OB1, I just get fed up with some 'fans' wanting to give a negative slant on everything, we may pay largish fees, but we by no means "over pay" these days. In the early days we had to over pay, or nobody would have come, but even then if we look at what we paid for Sergio, David Silva, even Vinny, there's not a single true fan who could say we didn't get value for money out of them.

Our negotiating these days is good, it may take time to complete deal, but when spending around £50m I think that is realistic to expect. People often forget things like international duty, and even a players holiday at this time of year, and these complicate a deal considerably.

The most important thing is we get what we need for the right price, before the start of the next season.

True...other clubs overpay more than us, especially the Rags
If the Rags have to overpay -Transfer fees/wages/agents fees with their alleged status(6 billion fans)
City must be doing something right

Have to say , have been impressed with their agent ....he and jorginho are putting the right type of pressure. That that agent of yaya's can learn a thing or 2

I’m not suggesting that we don’t do any deals with any European club at all in the near future.

It’s just that (going on our post 2008 experiences) Italian clubs, in particular, seem to have been the most difficult for us to negotiate with in the recent past.

Our negotiator may not, indeed, be a shithouse, but how do you suggest we proceed if the person we’re dealing with on behalf of the Italian club, most definitely is?
When we went after Kaka, Ibra & DDR, it was City who wanted the players, but the players weren't particularly arsed about us one way or the other.

That was then & this is now. Kaka admitted 3 years ago that he regretted not going to City back then, but it's understandable why a recent world player of the year wouldn't want to give up a team in the top 5 in the world to play for Mark Hughes at City whose last major trophy was 40 years previously.

If it was now, Kaka & Ibra would have a different take on a move to the Etihad. Players like Di Rossi were always destined to be a one club player, but Jorginho is different. He has no emotional ties to Napoli like DDR had with Roma & City are a multi-cup winning team managed by Pep Guardiola who've just broken nearly every PL record in sight.

This one is about patience. The word is that Napoli have accepted Jorginho will leave this window, but they want his replacement in before he goes, as they feel the price of a replacement will go up if other clubs know they have our £40m+ burning a hole in their pocket.

I kind of hope we get kovacic. I feel he is more versatile and has more upside. Jorginho seems quality though, certainly wouldn't be disappointed. I just get frustrated that we start with these low-ball offers, negotiations drag on for weeks and we end up paying what the selling club wanted anyway. Can't we just skip the middle man and get it done a a bit quicker.

Everyone one in Europe knows we in for him and when we in for a player we usually get him so don’t buy that.
