Maybe, but not for longI love Rico but let's be realistic, Kimmich is on another level.

Nah! I personally don't fancy Kimmich but he is light-years ahead of Rico. Similar utility value. But way better. His vision, Early balls and long balls are tools Rico doesn't even begin to have yet.He is 10 years older, to be fair.
Still won't be 20 millionIn the summer there will be 12 months left
That still won't happen20 & phillips was the call, its clarified underneath

He'll most definitely be way better than Rico.
Outside of Pep's penchant for sometime doing the unthinkable ( i.e. playing Lewis in Midfield).there really isn't any midfielder at City Rico is better than. Rodri, Kova, Nunes, Bernardo, Phil, Jack, and Kev are all far better midfielders than Rico.
Hopefully Pep gets over the dumbness of playing Rico over any of them. Rico's real value is that he is a defender with the technique of a midfielder.
But he is still a defender. Kimmich is better than any of our CMs not named Rodri. It's a bit of an insult to compare....
All that said, still don't fancy Kimmicj :p
his price is very tempting consider how much we might have to spend elsewhere. Eating the wage will be the kicker (but the bill will be down from winning hte treble anyway)Agree about the age but surely depends on the price, length of contract and whether he blocks an academy player. We have a place available (two if Kalvin goes) and his versatility is a big plus.
Basically I’ve got splinters in my arse and can’t decide.
Would this move not block game time for Lewis though?Exactly. Age and experience are one of the reasons he's better. I dont agree with the original post (not yours) that "hes not any better than Lewis". That's completely false. If Rico gets anywhere near Kimmich over the next 10 years that would be huge.
There will be plenty of games for everyone in the squadWould this move not block game time for Lewis though?
Maybe but players of the quality of kimmich don’t across often so we need to go for this one but tbh I can see Bayern giving him a new contract .Would this move not block game time for Lewis though?
There will be if players are happy with cup games or coming off the bench, but there will be a point where Lewis will want to start regularly, especially in the bigger games. If we sign Kimmich he will start most games. There will be plenty of games for everyone in the squad
By that time Lewis should will be higher in pecking orderThere will be if players are happy with cup games or coming off the bench, but there will be a point where Lewis will want to start regularly, especially in the bigger games. If we sign Kimmich he will start most games.
It would almost block his path in my opinion. Long term I’d rather see Lewis get his chance in that role.

The last tima german went to City for 20mil id didnt end to shabbyMadness that there's even anyone debating about this. He's a world class player approaching his peak, he's captained Germany, and we could sign him for €20m. That's an extremely rare opportunity.
Pep will be salivating at the thought of working with him again.
Of course he’s better than Lewis right now, however he is ten years older. It depends what you want - short term, ready made success or to develop a player who could end up being better.Kimmich is better than Lewis, so it would improve us now if we could sign him.
However, if we did get him, and at some point Lewis regularly performed better in training and when selected then he’d become a regular starter. If Lewis didn‘t show enough to oust Kimmich then the German player would have proved to be a good signing and better for the team.
