Joshua Kimmich

The wages may come down as a result of a higher signing on fee and I'd be surprised if the contract was longer than 3-4 years. Although his age profile isn't that good he's hardly on the scrap heap and what's more for the remainder of this season he can play both 2 and 6 much better than Lewis, Walker, Gundogan, Kovacic. If City also get Guimaraes who can cover 6,8 then we just might be able to balance our starting 11. We need 2 RBs for next season and signing Kimmich does not prohibit signing a younger faster player for the occasions where we need pace. Back to the salary of say £300K, this is still very good value if we pick Kimmich up for 15M ish.

In light of our current RB situation, maybe not the worst option for 2-3 years, until some better long-term targets appear? Obviously he could help in midfield as well, and we can always play Manu Akanji at RB if we need more defensive steel.

Knows the RB role stepping into midfield as well.....

We will be losing experienced players this summer for sure. Bringing him in makes sense in numerous ways for me. Know Pep, leader, experienced, great player, still only 30, don’t think he’s had a bad injury record?, can play multiple positions & out of contract so will be cheap.

He looked ok in the Euros but remember Nico Williams giving him the runaround.

Maybe him and Kovacic in midfield would be more solid, but can't help feeling we need more pace in the side.
