I still don’t get this deal. Looks a great player but not sure we need him. Unless he turns him into a midfielder. From what I have seen he is very capable.
We're after him because our system requires one of our defenders to move in to midfield during the game and we currently only have Stones who is capable of doing that.

We were quite lucky that Stones avoided injury in the run-in last season but we can't pin all our hopes on him being fit to play every game so we need another player who can perform that role.

Who knows, maybe Pep's plan is to have two defenders (Stones and Gvardiol) both moving in to midfield at different times during the same game to make us less predictable.

Excellent point , especially John avoiding injuries, Haaland got the plaudits , but JS was the man of the season , Pep was right , in his first season as manager when he said “John Stones has more balls than anyone in this room” in a press interview.Player of the season by a long long way.
