Josko Gvardiol

True he has an aura about him I remember feeling exact the same about Sergio Ramos nearly a couple decades back, Gvardiol reminds me of Ramos too although Sergio Ramos is right footed and became a total dirty shithouse bastard, he never needed to be the dirty shithouse he became Ramos as he always had top defensive attributes from a very young age and stood out in a similar manner.

Gvardiol can and should be the best of his generation no matter who he joins, if he stays injury free keeps his feet firmly on the ground and strives to be the best nothing should stop him.
wasnt matthijs de ligt spouted as this?

Hmmm that same Stones/Dias combo didn't win us the final (your words not mine) against Chelsea in 2021 so a rather odd statement to make here bossman. They're 1-1 so far, which I'm personally not going to complain about, but will definitely push back on when lazy attempts to throw Laporte under the bus are made.
Im not throwing laporte under the bus im saying it isnt coincidence we get the CL over the final with stones and dias in defence there the better partner ship and everyone know that particular CL was not starting rodri. Theres literally nothing wrong with that statement. Its not a fault on laporte and im not throwing laporte under the bus by saying it. Laportes been great for us but he wants to go and is known to be a moody arse when hes not playing hence threatening to leave both times he was out the team. Hows that throwing laporte under the bus.

No doubts Garvidol is good but for me Laporte is fabulous player so not sure what has gone on there
I don't think it's about being good, bad or fabulous with Eric.

He wants and needs to be starting 8/10 games, understands why that's currently not possible at City so wants a move where that's probable.

I believe he also wants to be on the Iberian peninsula so he can 'secure' his new nationality,Spanish.

He had a major bust up with Deschamp over playing time with France,'retired' from French international football then revoked his French nationality and was a Spanish international the next week.

Rather unpopular around Le Belle !!

Would love to know what a Laporte fetches, he’s a Rolls Royce in the centre half market

Okay what about last season then? We were well on the way to making the CL final with Laporte and Dias until Cancelo didn't feel like preventing crosses. Hardly Laporte's fault.
you seem to think i have an issue with laporte. I dont i just think its time for him to move on a play regularly somewhere else. I appreciate what hes done i never said i didnt.

Good that all makes sense and we agree for the most part I think. I just had an issue with your specific statement insinuating that we won the CL because we used Stones/Dias instead of a combo with Laporte because over the last 3 seasons our track record shows that is just incorrect.

When you said Laporte is a moody arse when he doesn't play, I agree with you so I don't think he's immune from criticism whatsoever. Lord knows he deserves a ton of blame against Spurs over both legs.

Anyway back on topic, let's get Gvardiol done and dusted so we can relax for a month or so.

France’s loss. He is better than every single one of their centre backs
Some of the players given multiple caps ahead of him are laughable

the same fee as the guy we are replacing him with but, of course, we won't see anywhere near that amount bid, the same with Bernardo, he is a 130m player if not more but all of a sudden the teams these guys want to play for have fuck all but their history to live off.

I’m surprised Chelsea aren’t in for Laporte, they’re crying out for a decent centre back and he ticks every box for them.

I really like Laporte, he’s a top class defender, but Pep sees him every day in training and knows what he wants from his CBs and it’s clear he doesn't trust him in our new system.

Much like Cancelo and Bernardo I’m not sure where they’ll end up as they don’t seem to have too many options on the table.

I’ll be disappointed to see Laporte leave. I’d go as far as to say he’s our most naturally gifted CB. Pity he’s had injury problems and has a bit of Le Sulk about him in the mentality department.
There’s no evidence of le sulk. He keeps to himself and doesnt kick up a fuss, and is always reliable when called upon. At the end of 21/22 he was a warrior when everything was falling apart in defence, and I don’t think it’s fair to say anything negative about his mentality when there’s no proof of that.

Maybe Pep wants rid due to the leaks? Whenever Laporte was unhappy, Laportes journalist friend would put out articles and leaks about transfers.

Fair point. He’s been a great servant to the club and I fully expect him to flourish wherever he ends up. He’d be the best CB at most clubs.

LaPorte has been great for us but time to move on if Gvardiol comes in. G will freshen up the team, has size, pace and more importantly age on his side and from the admittedly little I’ve seen of him, he will solve the back 3 and back 4 left sided player problem with valid competition for Ake in both roles.

The only downside he has is that to me, phonetically, his name doesn’t really make sense.

In the Balkans, yes it does :)
