I’m sorry but if this is true- what even is the point. They have made it clear what they want. They’ve already raised 150m euros in transfer sales so far this summer. They don’t need to sell him. I get we have our valuations and I have no issue with that I just don’t see the point in bidding under other clubs sale figures continually and then walking away when it was always obvious what would need to be paid to get it done
you must know by now that every business negotiates , every business of every size

Yeah that's right we should have paid through the nose for Koulibaly, Cuccurella, Kane, Maguire. How many of these have we regretted? No tears, all mirth.

What lengthy negotiations did we have for Kane? Pep said Levy wouldn't even take our calls. He wanted no part of a deal. The Cucurella scenario was completely different as well. There was another bidder in the mix.

We can't just show up and meet everybody's valuation right out of the gate. If we did that all the selling clubs would take us to the cleaners. We have to be disciplined in order to get good deals. Let Madrid's negotiation for Bellingham be your guide. Dortmund got slightly less than their valuation for him in the end. I suspect Leipzig will get something similar here.
Fair points in second paragraph. it also sometimes doesn’t work though like Kane, Cucurella, Rice where the selling club was unwilling due to their position of strength to drop the price.

We will see. They haven't flat said no like Brighton or West Ham.
They haven't made this a public scene in media. There are no clowns like Andy Naylor being fed information with or minute by minute update like Rice. Negotiations looks like they are being handled professionally and by adults
If they play hard ball and insist on a huge fee which is more than our valuation, then we will surely move on. But it doesn't look like it so far. He has a RC which comes into force next summer but 1 year is big time frame. This will get done with 85m + 15 m Euros eventually

The wording in the tweet that compelled me to write the hypothetical argument was ‘significantly lower’- I understand the point of negotiotaion

Tbf you don’t know how they would have performed under the greatest manager of all time and in one of the greatest club sides. Regardless of that I did quite clearly say that I have no issue with the idea of sticking to valuations of players and not playing over the top. My point was that if the price was clear from the start what is the point of bidding ‘significantly lower’- this approach has not worked in the past for us and when clubs have a strong selling position then it won’t. Anyway it’s all hypothetical based on a tweet from a journalist that you don’t know whether or not you can trust because there is just so much contradictory information! I was just saying if we do end up bidding much lower and then walking away it seems a bit of a pointless approach!

So the narrative is we are in negotiations. For what? To win the net spend trophy? To look good for the media (lol)? To look tough for future transfers (we already proved it in the past that we would walk away)? We lost our leverage with the Szoboszlai tansfer.

Txiki will perhaps save max. €10m & will get applause from no one (not even Mansour).

What does "he who shall not be named" have to do with this?

What a weird post

Thanks.

Good viewing.

Why can’t we have ESPN instead of Sly Sports News? So much better analysis about City than Sly Sports News. As well as being fair and honest without any bitterness and bias towards the red shirt clubs like Sly Sports News.
They have their moments of envy but at least it's not coming from a reds' standpoint. Liverpool legend Stevie Nicol is maybe the least biased against City. Kay Murray is an obvious City hater. It's not all that difficult to see.

We were never after “Szoboszlai” -
Txiki isn’t looking for your applause

We are in negotiation for a player because that’s what you do….

It’s a puzzler all right!

It’s definitely not the United way…

after the Szoboszlai transfer RBL is less open for negotiations regarding the transfer fee...we produced a whole video of txiki & omar discussing how good they operate in the transfer market (city youtube channel)
