Josko Gvardiol

Another massively eventful day. Txiki still crunching numbers trying to figure out just how much he can offend them with the first offer.
You really are a mard arsed tosser. As I already told you, Ederson and Ake, Walker and Akanji, Ruben Dias, Johnny Stones. Add to them Haaland, Alvarez, Grealish, Rodri, Bernardo, KDB etc etc, all pathetically signed under Txikki’s watch, but you want to wet your knickers because we haven’t signed Gvardiol as quickly as you would like. Pathetic

Don’t hold back!

In many ways, I admire the relaxed nature of our team's close-season behaviour. It feels like we have a clear mark in the sand between the season and the return to training, allowing players to completely relax and fully enjoy their holidays.
It is likely that this has impacted on any further announcements, allowing any new signings or departures to get away from the stress of top-level performance before they are revealed. It may be a pain in the arse for those itching for the latest incomers, but it also explains that we have probably had conversations with agents and clubs detailing when announcements will take place, and agreements that we will not announce until the selling club have sorted any replacements, which is simply good PR if you are losing one of your top players.

I don't get this when they've already sold Nkunku and Szoboslai for ~150m euros. And it's not like the Gvardiol deal is a secret, the teams with the replacements aren't dumb.
Leipzig's negotiation tactic is that they can just hold onto Gvardiol for another year if they can't sign his replacement at a reasonable price.

Leipzig hold the cards and no one can force them to sell a player who is under contract.

And City will be quite happy to keep any agreement quiet for a few days, if that's what Leipzig want.

yes i know they don’t need to sell him. i just think that everyone knows they sold nkunku and szoboszlai and will maybe sell gvardiol, so if leipzig come for your left-footed cb you’ll try to get good money. anyway, no smooth sailing for leipzig apparently, lukeba, geertruida and openda transfers not yet done and their pre-season started.

oh and in case gvardiol’s not fully fit at the moment i’d prefer city’s medical team
handling him. leipzig can f off with their idiotic decisions.

Do you honestly think that top business men will piss about bidding £90million pounds just to wind up Arsenal?
Once again, it isnt about 'pissing off' anyone. Its about limiting their - and that means any teams - capacity to improve their team in too many areas during any one transfer window (therefore reducing the rate at which they can play catch-up).

And if you're asking whether I think this is a valid & sound business strategy (and therefore one adopted by our team) then my answer is yes.

A good transfer window is not juat about spending money bucket loads of cash. You can spend relatively little if you maintain your key elements & others aren't able to add 3 or 4.

It's another subject but FFP has come back to shoot almost everyone in the foot except us, apparently.
Their insistence on milking their profits at the same time as competing with player purchases together with treating servicing their debts capably, is putting their overall value at a dangerous levels.
Covid also put a strain on their choice of profit utilisation.

Just an opinion.

You've done it again and got me singing early in the morning..... it'll be bouncing round my head all day again now .

City genuinely interested in Rice and trying to put a bid for him but City have their own valuation so they walk away when things isn't plausible anymore.

So i don't know why this nonsense of us trying to wind up Arsenal still exist, it's no different than whatever Eni Aluko said earlier two weeks ago.

and me! What's your last line now though?

We won it in Instanbul? (think our Jack went with that one)
or
Won it all in Istanbul? (my mate said he heard that at the parade)
