seen a few since the maddison to spurs story came out this morning, Newcastle now moving onto szoboI haven't seen any new reports on Szobo to Newcastle since they signed Tonali

Also, did Gvardiol specifically mention only wanting City that I missed? Seems odd that there has not been any competition to go against trying to sign the best young CB in football. Especially with the money that’s been getting thrown around lately.

Chelsea bid last summer I think, and our interest started to be rumoured shortly afterward in august time. Presumably with us having an eye on him for this summer.

The rice saga has left me slightly nervous on this. With Leipzig pushing for a world record offer for a defender (apparently £85m/€100m). Can see city offering like £65/70m and then saying we don’t value him at more than that. Don’t think it’s going to be a simple one, but what the fuck do I know

I think (/hope) we don’t do that. It’s all relative to the player - I can see why the club didn’t value Rice at £105m but I can’t see why they wouldn’t value Gvardiol as £85m given his talent ceiling being so high.
But then, it is Txiki. And he’s been proven right many a time in recent windows.
It all depends on the first bid, I can’t remember the last time we had a bid rejected then we went back again. It’s like we give our maximum at outset then say take it or leave it. No negotiation.
