Not all it said is it, picking bits out can say anything you like. It’s either done or very near. The leak has just delayed it a day or two most likely.

Why the conversation about Laporte? There's a reason he didn't play many minutes last year after we changed formation/set up: he can't defend the wide areas 1vs1 (Aké & Akanji preferred), step into midfield like Stones or be the middle CB like Dias. He's excellent but they clearly don't think he can play the roles that Pep wants the team to play in. Gvardiol evidently can & has ridiculous potential.

There's obviously a chance Gvardiol doesn't go through and Laporte can't get a move, but that wouldn't be good for Laporte's career and he deserves to be playing regularly as the LCB in a 2.

The feeling is the opposite. I’ve said ever since their director came out and publicly said they’ll make Gvardiol the most expensive defender in history. City wanted room for negotiation, he killed any chance for that. City will now use the leak as a metric to walk away since they never met his valuation and never agreed on a fee.
