Same as before. This reminds me a lot of Koulibaly saga, deal agreed, players bags packed and what not. City kept saying they have not agreed anything. Italian media kept saying otherwise. ADL came out making statements about him considering a possibility at €80m. City simply walked away, we then turned towards Kounde and eventually ended up with Dias. So we just have to wait and see who this other option is, there have been shouts for Colwill, and I’ve got a feeling we’ve looked at Lukeba from Lyon as well.And if we really want the player as he fits our profile ?

Don't understand this at all. Why all the wasted time? This isn't like the Koulibaly situation. Gvardiol even liked Fab's post on social media on the "Here we Go". He's the player in discussion, surely he knows better than any of us what is going on. Like the Rice and Arsenal deal, I'm sure it's about add ons and payment structures.The feeling is the opposite. Leipzig weren't ever budging from their valuation, they made it very clear how much they wanted for him.
These teams aren't mugs, look at Brighton with Caicedo. They won't sell him for anything less than 90m. The selling club now have all the power.
If we don't pay the price, we don't get the player.
But why have we been haggling for months when the message was very clear?
Why haven't we just walked away months ago if we were never going to pay the price Leipzig wanted?
Move on to someone else if we are clearly not going to pay what it takes.

there is a reason why txiki is called the "release clause men"...next year he doesn`t have to deal with them
similar with Rice we don`t need him for the asking price but the agents for future targets will notice & act coy to reach an agreement with player & many city if we can`t get a deal over the line

To be fair managers have in the past been open in saying things about player transfers out the club. It’s just one of those where he’s a really big asset for Leipzig at the moment.
