Juan Mata (Merged)

Re: Juan Mata is a must

His reps have arrived in England to try and finalize a move to Arsenal.

This might free up Nasri to join us?

Nah. It just means Fabregas will be shipped out to Barcelona, because apparently he's not going to play over the weekend, again.

About Mata: Arsenal interested, Valencia DO sell for 18m euros plus no matter what they say.

KFA or not he knows the Spanish scene....

If he goes for 18 million it will be strange to not see us involved at that price unless Nasri is on his way to being a blue..

City might play hard ball and show an interest in Mata in an attempt to force Arse's hand over Nasri

My thoughts too...

If Nasri is our last target... which i think he is.... We've got the player saying he wants to leave, he's in the last year of his contract AND we're willing to pay around 20 million. If Mata agrees to go to Arsenal, Nasri is as good as ours.

The only real argument then is.... Is Nasri better than Mata?

I'm not so sure... he's less of a risk... not sure he'll be better.

All comes down to managers preference and i think he prefers Nasri.

Re: Juan Mata is a must

We shouldn't allow arsenal a free run on mata whilst they hold on to nasri.

If they won't sell us nasri we should be bidding for mata IMO.

I know it's only the star but they seem convinced.

JUAN Mata will sign for Arsenal in the next 24 hours.

Juan Mata, 23, has been strongly linked with a move away from Spain following his superb displays for Valencia last season.

The Spain international has attracted interest from a number of top sides across Europe but the north London rivals have emerged as the strong favourites to sign him.

The Gunners are said to have offered £13m for the talanted midfielder.

With uncertainty surrounding the future of Samir Nasri, 24, Arsene Wenger is keen to find a top-quality replacement.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is a also big admirer of Mata however, the striker is said to favour a move to the Emirates.

I feel disappointed were not getting him as i feel he could of worked well with silva but if were getting Nasri/Sneijder i wouldn't want us to sign him to spend most of his time on the bench. Best of luck to him apart from the games against us ;)

To be fair.. Mata and Wilshere would be great for them....

If that means we get Nasri, i'm happy, Nasri has more goals in him...

Re: Juan Mata is a must

Get them both. We would be insane to let Mata come to the premier league and play for a rival for anything less than 23 million. We can buy them both and in the end come out of this window having spent only about 30 million pounds. We have that amount already guaranteed from the CL next season. SPEND IT NOW.

Think about it:

30 million pounds and we get:

Clichy
Savic
Aguero
Nasri
Mata
Backup keeper

I honestly don't understand what is going on.

Of course I would prefer to make that number 40 million and swap Nasri for Pastore.

If Mata is able and willing, why waste time trying to get Nasri/Sneidjer? He is a better fit, a cheaper deal and will be more interested in the Spanish contingent already here!

I don't think he would spend time on the bench. Considering the number of competitions we are in we can expect to play roughly 60 games if we go deep in those competitions. To do that you basically need 3 players for every two positions (at the minimum). Our front four right now are:

Aguero
Balo
Dzeko
Silva

We need two more of that class. That gives each player an avg of 40 games...a perfect number to ensure that we have a rested and healthy squad ready to play AC Milan on a Wednesday and Chelsea on a Saturday.

I don't think Mata is a better fit at Mancini's Manchester City. He might ultimately be a better player than Nasri but I think Samir is the type of player that's missing in the squad.

Re: Juan Mata is a must

If Mata goes to arsenal for 13 million pounds, I will eat my cats shit. Rubbish, Valencia would be insane (even with their cash problems) to let one of the biggest prospects In world football go for that amount. He is worth around 25 million easy. We should go for this guy, I know we won't but we should. Pure class

he's the same player as Silva. I think Mancini wants more of a goalscoring midfielder.

Re: Juan Mata is a must

Nasri definitely came good as a goalscoring midfielder last season, 15 goals all up, one less than Balotelli and Dzeko combined.

These two were class:

My point exactly. Mata is a goalscoring Midfielder. Has averaged about 11 goals a season over his 5 year professional playing career. Nasri has averaged about 8 goals. Outside of his 15 goal sprout last season, Nasri has previously been a 5-6 goals a season player. Kinda like Adebayor having one spectacular 30 goal season, but averaging about 14 otherwise.

Mata is the more accomplished goalscoring Mid of the 2.
