Juanma Lillo leaves to become Al-Sadd Head Coach

If Pep rates him get him onboard ! A person with that skill set who doesn't want to be in the limelight, and is happy as the number 2, who Pep likes and trusts well that's a rare combination .

Would not surprise me at all if he was being set up to replace Pep after assisting him.

Hes been a head coach before, hes got that experience that someone like Arteta didnt have in order to be put in charge.

If the club wants to promote from within when Pep goes hes the kind of assistant who could do it

Not sure about that, he'd probably be in his late 50s by then.

Another good article on him here btw, for anyone interested:

Is he high profile enough? Not saying we need a superstar manager to replace pep, but a bloke most people have never heard of might not be the best in attracting new players.

I know absolutely nothing about him to know whether he’s good enough to make that step up? His CV doesn’t look amazing but I don’t know the circumstances at each of the clubs he’s been at. Usually spends one year then moves on! The last time he spent more than one year in a job was 1992-1996! What’s his deal? Seems a bizarre CV on the face of it.

14 jobs in a row of no more than 1 year

This is the guy Pep went to learn the art of coaching from in Mexico at the tail end of his playing career.

Pep talks of him as being an idol of his, and a more senior, tactical mind from the same school as Pep on the bench to support him can only be a good thing.

Also - I’d be very surprised if Lillo would ever be considered as a replacement for Pep when the time comes, so we can take some encouragement from that.
