Jude Bellingham

I assure you that's not the case.

Ask me some Derby County questions that only a true fan would know if you like?

I'm only 35 though so ideally from 1997 (The Glory days) onwards!
How many pubes did Rooney use from his ball bag to put onto his head while he was with the Rams? -:)

Absolutely think Joao Felix would fit us like a glove. Hes a 10. Not a striker or winger when hes played inside at Portugal and Atletico behind the striker he is simply unplayable.
Felix has struggled all season at Athletico and only had one great game at the World Cup. He would be big gamble in the Premier League. I think Bellingham is well ahead of him in ability.

Bellingham is better all around but he does NOT have more ability than Felix, that young man can do special things under Pep too.

Not a chance City will accept being a back up. They will tell him thanks, but no thanks.
Spot-on. City are always happy to walk away and Pep has said repeatedly he only wants players who want to play for City. This one is hard to call at present. Perhaps the Liverpool stories are just part of that club's ongoing smear campaign in the media against City or perhaps there is something in them. Perhaps Dortmund are fuelling the LFC/City narrative to drive the price up. Who knows? We'll find out eventually.

I was told by someone reliable after the Dortmund home game in September that we had a verbal agreement with Bellingham to join next summer. Obviously things can change, but I'm still very confident of our chances.
It is definitely worth stressing that things can change and a verbal agreement doesn’t always end up in a deal. Ask Harry Kane. It’s probably not working to our advantage that he’s having such a brilliant World Cup, although I suspect that makes little difference in reality. The fact that he’s English would probably means he wants to come back home, and we would always be in pole position for any player who wants to play in the premier league. Ask yourself this: why would any player join a different premier league club to City if they had the choice? The only factor would be money. It’s the massive irony of idiot opposition fans who still blest the old cliche about players joining City “for the money”. It’s usually the opposite now: they come here for the glory.

I trust one of our resident wordsmiths has put a few words together for a song for him.

If only someone had written a song that would fit his name. I'll try to make a start -

Hey Jude.......

I just hope we sign Bellingham, firstly because he is a very good player and secondly if he joins the Scousers we will never hear the end of it.

Does anyone think this is why Klopp had that rant about how 'Liverpool cabt compete' and having a go at our owners. Maybe he knew back then this is done

Hey Jude, don't make it bad.
Take a scouser and make him bitter.
Man City will always be in your heart.
Then you can start to make lots of money.

They’ve definitely got the money, it’s the point you make about ‘if they want to’ which is what I was trying to say. I just can’t see FSG ‘wanting’ to blow an unprecedented fee on a player when they’re actively trying to sell.

It makes no logical sense for any owner when they’re in the process of trying to offload an asset.

Plus the next regime will be the ones to reap the benefit - and the credit - for having the player at the Club.

And the media heat for not getting him over the line is simply never going to happen. The whole ‘we tried, but poor old FSG couldn’t compete against state-owned Clubs like City’ angle writes itself, and absolves then of any blame. We all know their supine media lackeys will be more than happy to peddle that line for them all summer.

The cynic in me could argue that’s their objective, setting the scene and making the case for why they had to leave - when we all know the real reason is because the super league smash and grab their owners pushed so hard for ended up in such catastrophic and very public failure.

Completely agree they need a complete squad overhaul and rebuild which goes way beyond Bellingham, so they need to balance his signing with filling a whole host of ageing holes in their squad to be in with a chance of competing again.

I agree with all this and now you've said it I think the push in the press for him to go to Liverpool is part of the plan to play the 'woe is poor us, we just can't compete' card in the summer.
The way the press have decided that he's definitely going to Liverpool seems really odd to me, I'd have thought they'd have got their paid media influencers to temper the fans excitement just in case it doesn't come off. Now you've got me thinking that they could just be using the Trumpian tactic of keeping people angry and giving them a target for hate to distract from their shortcomings. If they can make their fans focus on evil Arab oil money it means they won't kick off about their lack of forward planning in regards to their squad and their poor recent recruitment decisions.
