Jules Koundé

Foot Mercato is usually unreliable as fuck but maybe they’ve got better sources for French players, we’ll see....

Here's a translation of the base report.

According to our information, Jules Koundé has reached an agreement with Manchester City around a 5-year contract. Sevilla are asking for 70 million euros for the player, who should join the Etihad Stadium.

In recent hours, the Spanish press has reported Manchester City's interest, to say the least, for Jules Koundé, the tricolor defender of Sevilla FC. After failing in the files Kalidou Koulibaly (Naples) and José Maria Gimenez (Atlético de Madrid), the Citizens finally fell back on the Sevillian defender, author of an excellent season, his first in Andalusia and in La Liga.

It must be said that alongside Diego Carlos, he brought a lot of solidity to the defense of Sevilla FC, being one of the main architects of the good season for Julen Lopetegui's team in La Liga and then during the coronation in Europa League. But the former Spain coach may soon have to say goodbye to him. According to our information, an agreement was even found between the former 21-year-old Bordeaux player and the Mancunian team around a five-year contract.
Sevilla want to get 70 million euros

For its part, the Sevillian management would ask for 70 million euros for the player recently selected by Sylvain Ripoll with the Espoirs, whose release clause amounts to 90 million euros. For the moment, the Citizens have offered 60 million euros, but we are able to assure you that the operation should be successful and that the player who cost the Sevillians 25 million euros a little over 'one year should wear the Skyblues tunic well in the coming weeks.

A heavy recruit for Pep Guardiola, who for months demanded the arrival of a defender to his management, while Eric Garcia has a good chance of returning to Barcelona during this particular summer transfer window. Very comfortable with the ball in his foot, sure in the aerial game and good in duels, Jules Koundé will therefore continue his meteoric progression within a club which wishes to recover the throne in England and finally go to the end in the Champions League. . Good news for the French team as well ...
Well done OPB,cheers mate.

Read somewhere that Real Madrid were looking towards him to replace Ramos.
Happy that we have a CB. How to integrate the youngster manage minutes it's up to Pep

Some highlight videos (yes I realise they don't show the flaws) of key performances in Europa League, first against Wolves to show some of his qualities to those unfamiliar:

And then his performance in the Europa Leauge Final where we know his more experienced partner, Diego Carlos, was AWFUL:

Look at how high he leaps for one header in midfield at about 1:10 and in the box from a free kick at 2:35.

The lad has ridiculous hops so his height won't really matter and could surprise taller players.

Strong with the ball, good vision and decisions for a young defender and has the pace and strength Garcia lacks.

Bottom line is we need a pacey CB to cope with the higher risk of counter attacks causing us problems we all are well aware of is arguably our greatest weakness.

I am content if we get this las, good age, french pairing with Laporte and a lot younger than KK. The biggest plus though is not dealing with or paying a cent to that maggot in Naples. He will be begging clubs to take his 90m player for half that within a week.
