I didn’t say Agustin IS better than Julian, I’m just visualizing his potential to be better all around in a few years. (Also a year younger)Agustin being better than Julian. Similar tier. Agustin is better in the air, back to goal and off ball movement. I think Julian is better on the ball, in space and has a stronger weaker foot.
I have a hard time with this because Ferran has been playing at a much higher level. Argentinian football doesn’t demand much. On “striker IQ” especially I think Ferran has already improved so much in the past 12 months or even more (I remember him vs Germany, november 2020, extraordinary performance).I think their pace is roughly the same but Julian has a quicker first step to beat his man. Ferran's off the ball movement are definitely better but Julian, right now anyway, has much better striker or in the box IQ. I feel Julian is also better at pressing.
If I’m being honest, I don’t think Alvarez will be an important name in our squad in the coming years — which Ferran himself wasn’t, so no big deal there. I would love to be proven wrong. But as far as planning next season’s squad, I don’t think his presence changes anything
