Julian Weigl

Impressed with him tonight against Spurs.

I thought he looked very neat and tidy on the ball. Never gave it away and good range of passing, although he mainly kept it simple.

Personally I thought he looked a bit lightweight to play as a holding player in the PL though. He barely made a tackle, he didn't have to because Dortmund were so dominant, but I could see him getting a bit bullied in the PL.

He looked like a more high energy Daley Blind to me. Excellent footballer on the ball, but probably lacks the pace, physicality and agression to be a top holding player in the Premier League.

He's got bags of potential and is clearly a talent, but personally I think Gundogen looks a much better fit for us.

Perhaps, but if Pep can get us playing like Dortmund tonight, then he won't need to be a holding player, I'd take both, but I'm greedy.

Just watched last night's Dortmund/Spurs game and Weigl was pretty incredible.

His vision and passing from deep was unbelievable at times. It was on the level of Sergio Busquets. Picking the ball up from the holding midfield role and playing terrific passes through an organised Spurs side. Exactly the type of player we lack, we haven't really got anyone with that passing from deep. Maybe Yaya is capable of it at times, but not like this.

This was the first time I've watched Weigl and I was seriously impressed. He was cutting through a well organised Spurs team with ease with his passing.
