Just Newcastle between us....

Think we should give Newcastle some respect on here. A few fans have come over to offer there opinion, and to be honest, I don't think it's unfair for either sets of fans to think they have a good chance of winning this game. We're both very strong teams. I believe we're the stronger and mentally ready for this game, but that will be decided on Sunday.

Both sets of fans are at an emotional moment in their respective seasons, and Newcastle are essentially in the same boat as we were when we played spurs for the 4th spot a couple of years ago.

Big game for both teams, and although I hope we beat Newcastle on Sunday, I really hope they make the CL spot as well. Would be excellent to see a new club in the CL with us, and I'd much prefer Newcastle to the media darlings Scotty P, and Flash 'Arry. In fact I hope that in the not to distant future when people say "united", they're talking about Newcastle.

As far as Sunday goes though; COME ON CITY!

This for me all down the line

2 of my best mates are barcoders... they have had some rough times of late (relegation etc) I can identify wth that

This after the serious challenge to Scum in the late 90's (pity they blew it)

Now it's our turn and unfortunately Barcodes' turn to take a smack on Sunday.
Other than that, they are a team I'd like to see join us in breaking up the last smoking remnats of the old 'sky 4'

Reality check........

NUFC beaten 4-0 by Wigan last Saturday. A win against a distracted and wekened CFC does not make them less beatable than MUFC, the table does not lie, Premier League hype does.

It's not really a reality check, we know all about the differences at home and on the road, Newcastle are a better team at home than on the road.

Most teams are better at home than they are away - not sure I understand your point?

My point is we're playing them at their home and not away so their loss to Wigan isn't really relevant... just like our 3-1 win over them at our place isn't very relevant as at St. James' Park they are much more formidable in general.

But remeber, MUFC had the best way record....................

I think I am just trying to convince myself!

Coming from a mag, believe me, that result against Wigan is totally irrelevant.

Wigan are now playing very well with their 3-4-3, and they're actually 3rd or 4th in the form table at the moment, up there with ourselves and you guys.

Now the problem we've had for years is that we vastly underestimate lower table sides. For our last two seasons in the PL we've played our best football against the best sides, but gave half-arsed performances against lower sides and made it a right faff on for ourselves. Look at us thrashing Man Utd 3-0 at SJP, yet drawing 2-2 with Wolves at the same place.

I don't know what it is, but it's almost like we don't want to be seen to be putting in effort against lower sides, like we'd want to look cool by just having to turn up to win.

Now this usually wouldn't be a major problem, but on this particular occasion we faced a side we usually vastly underestimate, but this time the opposition happened to be one of the most in-form teams in the league. The result? We got battered.

Honestly, the games which worry me the most are the games against lower table sides, because Newcastle have this awful habit of underestimating these sides and have done for years. However, against top sides, we tend to turn up and give it our all.

I respect newcastle i really do but the way they are being talked up youd think they were contending for the championship and we were some kind of pub team, all i keep on hearing is theyve got ben arfa, theyve got cabaye, theyve got cisse and ba well weve got aguero, tevez, silva and nasri for gods sake how bout us they lost 4 0 to wigan, so they beat chelsea and so did villa and liverpool at stamford bridge can we please give our own team just a little bit of credit instead of talking newcastle up into something they are not.

I think people are worrying more (me included) because we are at the end of the season, two game away from winning the league. We wouldn't be as worried if it was September. Newcastle will be very tough but we are very capable of getting a win

Is there any word on Cisse's fitness? He was visibly limping after the game but Aguero and Yaya often limp after our games so it doesn't necessarily mean an injury. He did seem hurt though. We handled Ba well at the Etihad but Cisse + Ba is a much trickier challenge.

Believe me m8 i am plenty worried and tbh being a city fan and a natural pessimist im convinced it aint gonna happen , what i do want however is a bit of respect for our team an d its achievements whatever happens, for people to recognize the good players we have instead of talking up everyone else, as i stated before i respect newcastle and recognise their good players i also recognize our good players to.
