Juventus (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

So they attacked and defended better, that's a corker that is. Yeah we were fine apart from the defending and attacking bit.
M23 is half right, in that 4 times in 90 mins we played some lovely football.

We're scared to take risks because we know we're vulnerable. So we play safe and slow, and get punished anyway. That forces us to come out and play with more purpose, but we get punished for that too because we weren't wrong about the vulnerability.

Meek when we should be bold. Brittle when we should be free-flowing.

This is absolutely not just an absence of Rodri problem, but every match we play without him seems to justify that Ballon d'Or more. He certainly does have a useful habit of being everywhere we need him to be on the pitch.

This is reasons of why the talk of Rodri calibre level of player can be done in January is just pure nonsense.

Whilst there is some truth in that, our system would hide that. At the moment, the structure is hanging them out to dry.

There’s no one to replace them though as they’re all injured.
No mate
We're at least five players short of being contenders again and that's just for the first eleven

Goodness me, that was a hard watch!
How I fondly remember that time we got a cross in. Yes, it was last Saturday, and went right onto the head of our big 6'5'' centre forward. He scored!
I wonder if we'll ever see that happen again?
I bet Haaland thinks that too.

Things are not going to be getting any better until we can get replacements in January, if they do indeed come then. I expect we just have to accept we are going to struggle to win any games in the next 2-3 weeks. Any points we get between now and then I’m taking as a bonus.

At this point I would just play the u21s ahead of Walker, Gundogan, Lewis and a few others as at least they will have some energy and let’s be honest they can’t be any worse.

This season is now about digging in and surviving somehow. We will probably be somewhere around 8th come January, but it’s totally doable to come back from there and still get top 4.
Dunno about u21’s, just looked at their 5-0 thrashing by Lincoln.

Literally predicted the second goal in the pre match thread.....

Said it all before...Everyone knows walker is a problem. but our defensive shield of Lewis and Gundo s doing literally nothing.....neither can run back .......people making excuses for Lewis and focusing on one player in walker are missing the bigger picture..and Lewis and Gundo are that

And the real elephant in the room is KDB- we are actually carrying a player as he doesnt run anywhere near as much as required...

People will now hate this even more....If the rags get their set up right...they will have a field day

Back 3

5 min the middle with pace outwide and a couple of holding midfielder - pace upfront....

Or a simple 4-2-3-1 with two defensive sitting midfielders.

Sit and wait .....just as Juve did.....and then on the break down with our midfield pushed way too high and Gundo out od position.....and watch what happens...rashford, Garnacho, Hoiland or Amad - all absolutely rapid will run in behind and have a field day

use Mainoo and Ugarte and they will bully Gundo

Thierry Henry has just said it on commentary - he knew Juve would play this way....

we wont win the CL let alone qualify for the next round

We need to focus on the PL and finishing top 4 and that is now looking unlikely

None of that should matter, if Pep would cut his cloth, according to what we’ve got available. Continuing to play that high line, with no pressing and slow ball is just suicidal.
Can’t we ever just sit deep, in a low block and attempt to play on the counter?
I agree, we need to be far more compact as a team. The way we defend when we turn over possession is becoming a joke.
