Kalidou Koulibaly

They want Denayer as a replacement for a fraction of the price. Can't we just take him instead? Would be a damn sight easier.

Good player but just like many other names seniority/leadership and experience only limits it down to Koulibaly again.
Also did he not leave the club on bad terms?

Wants it,according to this......well,keen anyway.
Ooh

Does he want it ?

Denayer looks good for Lyon, but how good would he look in a high line.

Having watched the Barca/Napoli 'Kouli highlights', he actually looked pretty dominant in that game, except for a couple of obvious errors, including the Messi penalty, cough....John Stones...

The club completely shafted Denayer after his successful loan at Celtic, promising him first team opportunities to get him to sign a new deal - then giving Demichelis a new contract the same summer, and sending Denayer out on a series of dispiriting loans instead which nearly fucked his career.

I think it’s relatively safe to say there is no chance of Denayer coming back to City - or ever trusting the club again.

Koulibaly's 'nightmare game' v Barca, was better than a typically 'decent' 90 mins by our ususual central defenders, apart from the pen (which wasn't a pen imo). It looked worse because the Napoli team became disjointed.

Even the couple of shit passes he made: Vinny did exactly the same plenty of times & nobody cared because he does his job.

It was poor by Koulibaly standards, but not by ours.

Agree with the first bit but not the 2nd.

But we will want a more dominating cb than Denayer, I imagine.

Two weeks until our first league game. Time for the club to conclude this deal. Expect movement today or tomorrow.

To be fair we treated Denayer badly. Got him to sign a contract, promised the chance of 1st team football, then kept sending him out on loan.

He was mistreated in my humble opinion.

So it appears we're negotiating with Napoli through KK's agent. Good news as it forces the player to want to come to us, limits the schinanigans of ADL and further if the agent messes up he burns his bridges with us forever. Win win for me.

If he wants to return to trhe club then why not
because he ain't good enough for the system we play. That said, the system we play puts so much pressure on the CB's, in terms of positioning, strength and pace required, I am not sure how many CB's there are who are good enough. I am sure that John Stones would look great in Arsenals new set up....

As twoslips has said he would cost the fraction of the cost and as you have said Koulibaly might struggle in ours.

Imagine not being as good as Demichelis.

Dark times.

This might have had something to do with Denayers downfall in the club, he's the one kicking someone in the head.
