We could not have predicted Laporte's ACL injury neither could we have predicted that the pairing of Otamendi and Stones that won us title in 17/18 would be so utterly shite that we'd be embarrassed at Norwich and have to rely on Fernandinho and Garcia for a fair bit of our campaign. It happens, not everything goes to plan. I'm not denying that, but having to replace Kompany isn't just as easy as buying a Maguire or Koulibaly or another 100m defender. It's a voice in the dressing room and a proper leader. Getting a ready made product in Koulibaly sounds great but we can only pay so much for his profile. I am still in favour of getting him in ASAP over any of the other names that have showed up recently but we can also not just always pay what is asked, it is business, sometimes you have to do things the hard way. If it works out, excellent, if not, there are names of which one will be bought, not the best, but they will do.

They`ve no fucking idea as to how many top people are involved from start to finish on any one piece of transfer business.
That`s why I believe some people on this forum are either stupid,naive or just school kids.

A Nigel de Jong perhaps?!The only reliable defender the dippers have is Van dijk, the others - Matip/Gomez aren't exactly top cb's, good yes but not top quality like laporte, van dijk. Laporte is our VVD, There;s a reason why Klopp is trying to flood the midfield with strength and dynamism, that's where the battle would be won. We just need a decent defender to pair Laporte - Kounde, Denayer, Dennis (could also play as a CB), but THAT MIDFIELD! that's where we need runners, fighters, pitbull types like dinho in his prime! I love the look of a midfield with Aouar or Partey, this would provide the much needed energy and dynamism we have been lacking, even Bentacur would be an improvement on gundo, much more mobility and fighting to win the second balls . Chelsea, Liverpool and even the rags have all strengthened their midfield with combative players, we are really lacking here, not sure why everyone thinks we need to splurge all our money on centre backs.

Practically everyone on BM could predict that.
How many fans turned around and said "title has gone" the moment Lap went down? Quite a few
Ferran and Omar Berrada are also involved in making transfer decisions along with Pep, as was proven in our Amazon documentary. But people somehow have stuck everything on Txiki. Messi decides to stay Txiki's fault, didn't get a player Txiki's fault, a 17 year old loaned who barely anyone knows of: Txiki at fault, when will we trust youth!
