Kalvin Phillips

the only way I see him coming back at all (to the level he had at leeds) is if he plays for a club thats destined to go down with literally zero pressure on him.

He used to be a first choice international player. So…. Think he can be better than he has been since his shoulder injury. But, having said that, he’s not good enough for us

That was playing for England with a back 3 and two defensive wingbacks, plus Declan Rice in the side. He didn't have a lot of space to cover.

Different world playing for us.

You'd think though that he could suit some teams, but after what they've seen of him the last two years, why wouldnt they just go for somebody else?

Certainly doing himself no favour's in the USA tour team.

Perhaps he is happy to play as he wants and get paid to the end of his contract. Why should he try hard to get a transfer when he has shown little at WHU?

Apathy with a smile. Pep has given his opinion so why should he even try from now on.

Yep. Football has moved on after Pep came to England. Sadly Kalvin hasn’t followed

Got a long injury at his last season with Leeds, already didn't look the same when he returned then. Came to us, long term injury again.

Looks like he lost his physicality and his confidence. Probably needs a club that can give him the space to regain his confidence and maybe some momentum, like Ross Barkley needed. Unfortunately, City is not the place to afford him that space. He's already 28, his next move could be his final shot.

Depends. On the expectations. The passing of time is in in itself not a change of circumstances. Also depends on how mucg time is left to pass.
Well yeah, that is true if you are talking of the abstract, but I was talking about this specific case, not the general concept of the passing of time. So had already taken into account the expectations towards Phillips, and the available time frame as a whole.

Agreed. You get the sense that some footballers never loved the sport but were just very good at it, but he feels like a lad who would have played every chance he had growing up. Sad that his career has come to this.
His self confidence is destroyed, everyone witnessed that when he lost the ball on the edge of the area against Milan.

He will have to work incredibly hard and get a manager to take a hell of a risk to get any sort of playing career back.
