I think you've pretty much proved my point. It rarely happens, if ever & imo would be unfair on Rekik & possibly finish him as a City prospect if it went wrong.

The only one I can think of is Micah Richards, & he was a much better athlete, exceptionally fast & great in the air (& basically a miles better defensive prospect than either Nastasic or Rekik).

Just to mention, that this has nothing to do with tactics, we haven't even mentioned tactics, we are talking about how best to utilise young players & get the best from them. Why you have brought up tactics, I have no idea.

Anyway I will not & never have praised Stuart Pearce, I'm just proving the point of how Micah was rated. I am right & those denying it are telling porkies.

But in case you just jumped in without reading the rest of this thread, the recent theme is about players being thrown in, & the damage it can do, not about your mate Nastasic (who you went on record as saying is Bobby Moore meets Baresi ? I think that was it wasn't it ? Let's hope you are right eh ?). I was just using him as an example of a player who from all that promise, is now 2nd fiddle to a 33 year old Argentinian.. This is actually about Rekik & what's best for him though. I don't even rate him, but I think he deserves the best chance we can give him.

The example of Richards was one of the most highly rated kids in the country, whatever revisionist bollocks people come up with, & he was rated mainly as a central defender. He was one of the best we have ever had at youth level, perhaps the best. He excelled when first brought in, played loads of games then he lost form, as kids do. Suddenly he was a liability etc.

This kid was streets ahead as a defender,to anything we have now. Not at passing the ball etc, but as a defender. Different level. What if he'dnever been thrown in, & instead came back from somewhere like Holland, as a central defender, having learned his job ?

What if Dedrick Boyata hadn't been thrown in at centre back v Arsenal, & sent off before he even had a kick,, so that his arse went completely & another of our best prospects wasn't nervous as fuck for years after ? Now his name is shit on here. He was a TOP prospect. & may still get it together with the right psychology etc.

If Rekik goes to a Prem club & struggles, none of the big mouths on here will be associated with him afterwards. They'll drop him like a fucking stone & move onto the next one.

Seen it all before.

We have a duty to these kids, to give them the best chance,

Another loan would be the right decision imo.
He has momentum presently,so to bring him back here,and have him playing reserve football,would be detrimental to his progress,and cause him unrest......given the development and first team game time he could be gaining elsewhere.

Just a case of selecting the best option from those available.

I will be surprised to see us loan him out so young, he has only really just broke through to the EDS this season but if City think he is ready then let's go for it.

I think it's great to see a few of our academy players being loaned and linked to top teams in the top European Leagues, it makes you think we are doing something right and that we have some talented youngsters in our ranks.

We could potentially see Lopes, Rekik and Ambrose in top 6 French teams next season, Huws could be in the Premier League whilst our new acquisition, Zuculini, could be playing in La Liga.

Very exciting future ahead hopefully.

I definitely concur that another loan is the right option. Although there is the rare exception, I think it takes quite a few years before a central defender really learns the game. There is no need to rush Rekik. Let him develop his skills in different leagues and then bring him back. I would much rather see a fully rounded player come back, rather than have a young gun sitting on the bench.

Rekik got it right himself when he said he needed to play week in and week out at his age. It looks like Txiki is supporting our young players getting experience in places other than the lower leagues in England. The loans of Lopes and Plummer are two recent examples.

Speaking of which I think loans to clubs in Europe are definitely a much better idea than playing in a lower league in England. If we want our young players to develop then playing with a league one club in England is not the answer.

I doubt there is anyone truely believing Plummer will make it here tho, i just think we are shipping him out to the scottish league for his own good. Just like Ryan Mcgivern was.
 
After impressing in Eindhoven last year, Karim Rekik was rumoured to be offered a return to the Philips Stadion ahead of the new Eredivisie campaign. However, in an interview with CityTV today, the defender stated he is out to earn a place in Manuel Pellegrini’s starting line-up at Manchester City.



The big 6ft 1inch central defender had an outstanding year last season under Philip Cocu playing 30 times in all competitions for PSV. He impressed Oranje coach Louis van Gaal too, who named him in his pre-World Cup 30-man provisional squad.

PSV technical director has discussed with the press the possibility of the young defender returning for another stint on loan but in Rekik’s latest interview, the youngster has stated he wants to “fight for a place” at City.

Rekik returned to Manchester this summer and is now currently with the first team in Scotland as part of City’s pre-season program. The 19-year-old is hoping that regular football last year in the Eredivisie has prepared him for his City future.

Rekik told City TV: “I just played every game which I think is important for a young player and it was a great experience for me. I have to spoke to him [Pellegrini] and he said that I had a good year last year and that I need to work now and fight for my place.”

“I will see if I’m ready [City’s first team] and that’s the choice of the manager,” he continued
 
Loan him out again now to a stronger league team. At least EL team to have extra games. Keeping him as 5th CB wont do him much good.

I can't believe there is a City fan hoping a young player fails so he can be proved right.

Well your going to be proved wrong and Rekik is going to succeed.

He has grown substantially and you can see his ability on the ball.

In case you weren't aware friendlies are there to get players up to match fitness and gett he team to gel before the big kick off.

They are not serious games!

Excuse me? If you disagree with me then fine, give me some examples of things he did DEFENSIVELY that make you think he should be included in the first team setup, which is what I was referring to.

Otherwise, if you can't discuss football without accusing a lifelong City fan who has been watching kids football since the 60s of WANTING a player to fail, just fuck off & ignore my posts, you utter wanker.

I would LOVE Rekik to make it. But that doesn't mean I'm going to watch him do stuff I fucking KNOW is wrong & sit there like a fucking dummy just because cunts like you want to censor it. Up yours.
