Kneville - with that kinda rant you've gotta be Ted from mcfc.net right?

lol Ted Knott....you may not be far wrong there

Don't know who Ted Knott is. Referring to the poster called Ted Hughes. Unless it's one and the same?

He used to post in rthe MEN and call into KEY 103 when they used to have the legends program.

Probably Ted Hughes is a different guy

Nev,your obsessive,unfair,dislike of this kid isn't healthy.

While he may not be the next Maldini.......everyone else cant be wrong pal.

Your above rant is a nonsense.

I don't think he's unnecessarily being unfair. I'm with him on this.. I think Rekik is a bit of a pansy of a defender tbh. He's one of those 'looks good on the ball' types who you rarely see make a great challenge or lead by example.

Of course he is being unfair, his assessment of Rekiks game against Mario is bollocks for a start.

Oscar is right....

I watched that game too. He was naff. Mario ran off him while he stood about doing nowt about 3 times. He looked lost. I thought he was meant to be great so was taken by surprise at how passive he was that game.

Plenty of people share my opinion on Rekik including people who watch him regularly in Holland. If he's to make it at City, he has to do one hell of a lot more than what he's done so far. If he actually starts doing that, then I'll be advocating him as a first team player. When he does fuck all, makes a few obvious mistakes & the other guys are making interceptions, winning headers & generally doing everything while he strolls, it's pretty fucking obvious he isn't doing the required job. He has to be involved, not just cruise around knocking a few passes about. Silva could play centre back if that's all it takes.

When we watch rag games & see kids do sod all, then get all manner of praise, we take the piss out of them. On here people are repeatedly doing the same with certain players & it's also ridiculous.

Let the lad actually do something worthy of the praise he is getting, & I'll happily join in.
I'd be delighted if the whole squad was made up of kids, but they have to deserve it.

To be honest, football is so subjective, you will see whatever you want to see. Nev clearly decided a long time ago that he didn't rate Rekik, so now is looking with critical eyes and will always see him negatively. I think he's very much in the minority with his opinion of him, especially with the suggestion that Boyata looks better than him, which I think most would consider absurd. He's never going to change his mind, that's become pretty clear, so there is little point in debating it with him.

It's quite the opposite actually. I decided a long time ago that he was going to be brilliant & am gutted to find out he's lost so much pace & attitude defensively.

Boyata was better than him in the last game & did loads of important defending whilst Rekik did none at all. Boyata got slaughtered by some on the match thread but did very little wrong & a lot right. Because of his past, he got nasty comments about his play. That is what you call unfair. He even got slaughtered for being responsible for the goal.

I'm willing to give Boyata a chance whilst most on here aren't. If Rekik makes a twat of himself then makes a future improvement, you can guarantee I'll be one of the people giving him a chance, whilst the torches & pitchforks are out by some who are praising him now & arguing his case. Seen it all before many times.

Don't attribute stuff to me when you don't know me.

That touch, and the other two separate occasions where he failed to hold the line and people got in behind him or do you have selective memories? To do all that in that short space of time takes some doing. There's absolutely nothing authoritative about him at all.

Stop worrying,I imagine he'll already be gone mate.Football obviously not his thing.

Must be doing something right in training because he looked all over the place in the minutes he's played so far.

Need these young guys to play next to an experianced cb, Boyata himself is shaky so its hard to play well yourself if your other cb is unreliable.

I think he's been a little unlucky in pre-season.

He's been paired with Nastasic and Boyata - Nastasic isn't a natural partner for him and Boyata is all over the place. I'd be interested to see him paired with Kompany or the experienced Demichelis.

It's a bit crazy to totally write Rekik off considering he's only 19 years old. Playing regularly for PSV and being involved internationally with Holland at that age is impressive.

Another loan spell would hopefully help his progress

I agree both Nastasic and Rekik have been partnered together or with boyata which makes it unfair to judge them as boyata really is all over the place at times. Im sure both would look alot better next to kompany or mdm a more natural partnership. The downside to having both is that they are both left footed and mangala is as well. That limits combinations by alot.

You could just as easily flip that statement.

Bit harsh blaming Boyata for Rekik's shitness. He was shit because he is exactly that. He'll never be good enough for City as he isn't good in the air, isn't strong, isn't fast and doesn't win 50/50s. He lets players run off him incredibly easy too.

Absolutely delusional if you think Rekik has any chance of being good enough.

Boyata is shit too mind, but at least he can win a header.

Was that the one v Arse on Sunday...thats the first header when challenged that I have ever seen him win.

I saw that Pellegrini says Rekik has big potential, but not ready for the first team yet.

I agree with that 100%. I think people forget he's only 19 and is one of our biggest youth prospects.

By the time he's 22/23, I could easily see him being a part of our squad. He would count as homegrown too.
