TS, yeah I did read and understand that (I edited my post and forgot to include that :-S), but what I was getting at was to see if there were any stated or test cases, a specialist in road traffic matters may see grounds to give it a go, the speed limits themselves aren't clear at all, you only have to google the many threads, but then again, it's not Glens licence and his mate may not be in jeopardy of losing his, so I guess just suck it.
Just thought you had missed the sentence in the OP DH, like you say if he had been doing the NSL then an appeal due to ambiguity could of been on the cards :)
