I don't see the issue with ID - what's wrong with confirming your name/address to prevent any chance of fraud?

I get that some haven't got ID, but i would have thought nowadays it just should be a legal requirement.
Voting is an important right.

In person fraud is almost non-existent - and it's obvious why, you'd need quite a conspiracy, and be taking lots of risk, to impersonate enough people to actually have any effect on an election.

A huge number of people don't have the ID that's needed (estimated at approx 2 million adults).

As you say, we already have to give our names and address, and we had to be on the electoral register to get that far, so there are some safe guards, which have worked for years.

Why make something so important, more difficult, when there's no real justification?

Maybe time to bring in ID cards, then everyone will have sufficient ID.

Though that's perhaps a debate for another time/thread.

I really don't think there's anything difficult about taking ID

It will be a non issue come next vote.

But it isn’t a legal requirement to have photo ID in UK unlike other countries who require ID to vote. A bonkers half arsed idea that solves nothing but creates new problems.

Bid Brother one step closer....
To be honest, have'nt voted for a couple of years. Not interested.
There's no real difference between them. Both want power, let them get on with it I say.

Do you think the cost / reward of these voter i.d. reforms are really worth it? Spending millions to solve a non existent issue which could be spent elsewhere?
