Just a hunch. I could be completely wrong, of course. Why? What is giving you that impression?

Interesting talking to a colleague today who has done a complete about-turn regarding Starmer. When he was first elected we were both very much in the ‘Who is he and what does he stand for?’ mode. Since then, we’ve had various conversations and I’ve put across that he’s had to hide his true self because all and sundry will attack him for anything anywhere near the previous incumbents thoughts. Over that time I’ve also asked him to look for the real tell‘s of where he is at and what we should expect.
Gradually his eyes have opened but I’d never have thought Starmer‘s words on Thatcher would be the deciding factor. He didn’t go with the guff that Starmer was praising Thatcher but more that he had the intelligence to use her in a conversation aimed at those who were on the fringe of moving to Labour rather than any other option.
He also stated that he just wanted a serious person in charge of the country and if Starmer can turn the party around as fast as this then he’s sure fire safe hands for the future of the country.
Ps. He hates what the Tories have become and will refuse to vote for them while it has the ‘Thieves‘ running it.
In reverse already.
Johnson attracted voters from all sides with his get Brexit done policy (whatever people think of it or him) so maybe the lesson is come up with policies that enough people like rather than praising the ghosts of past leaders to win votes.
Of course I’m Starmer, what gave it away? You are definitely Starmer himself, fess up;, colleague you say?-)
Did your colleague bring sandwiches for lunch perhaps, were they in his toolmakers father lunch box perhaps?
Yep, Brexit has been a fucking disaster and a complete shit show. I think my point was that the endemic corruption in dealing with Brexit and Covid, and the clear disdain for the population is what has brought the Tories to where they are. However there was never a good way of dealing with Brexit because it was always going to be shit so in effect you’re correct.Don’t agree mate. The former has been a complete disaster and continues to toxically divide them and don’t underestimate the strength of feeling in middle England about the Downing Street parties. That’s what precipitated this steep collapse in their support.
They could have got away with the features you describe if it hadn’t been for those factors, which have brought them to the fore.
We both are!Yep, Brexit has been a fucking disaster and a complete shit show.
