Keir Starmer

The Corbyn fans would rather the Tories won the next election than see Starmer as PM.

Very weird.

This is also why they're so desperate to pretend Starmer and the Tories are the same.

Because everyone knows how fucking stupid it is to prefer to be a martyr on the outside than actually have a Labour government, so if you just lie enough about Labour and Conservative being the same then your vote is meaningless and it excuses preferring to be out of power or refusing to vote.

It will be a labour government only in name.

It's not the party it was created for anymore.

The media are currently fluffing Starmer. It will be different when he's PM.

I hope when he's in we see slow and steady improvement of the lives of the people the party was made for. Not for lobbyists, especially shady deals with US healthcare companies.

Well it was founded as a socialist party that would receive about 0.1% of the vote today so...

Have you considered you're just not really Labour? You don't like Starmer, you don't like Blairism.

So if we assume Starmer wins, that's 2 of the 4 winnning Labour leaders you don't like, and the last one you dd agree with died 30 years ago.

That's one big glass house you are throwing them stones from. You in 2015.

However I'm happy to admit that if Corbyn is the Labour leader at the next election I will be seriously considering voting Conservative and I certainly won't be voting Labour.

Good bit of searching.
However that was pre-Johnson, pre-Brexit, pre-Truss, pre-Sunak and before we found out how corrupt the Tories have been. It was also back before the UKIP takeover of the Tories. When it came to the election in 2019, given a choice between the two I would have chosen Corbyn. Feel free to check my posts to confirm. I actually voted Lib Dem because the Tories had no chance in my constituency but if they had I would have voted for whoever was best placed to beat the Tory.

I think there's an element who genuinely believe that they are the same - but then, after the last election, watching a lot of Corybn supporters on twitter attacking each other made me realise that a lot of people live in weird bubbles. There was even a point where quite a few of his most prominent supporters turned on Corbyn for apparently not being true to his own cause :/

Recently there was an interview with Joe politics (I think), where the interviewer sounded really confused when Mick Lynch was talking positively about an incoming Labour government. People like Mick or Sharon Graham will of course advocate for an even more worker friendly government, but they also know the difference a Labour government can make.

I think the general point is it won't be a Labour govt, do keep up. The argument is you will be keeping in a Tory govt.

Whatever people believe and what is the truth is up for debate. But saying to people that believe the Labour leadership is too Tory like should actually still vote Labour to get rid of the Tories is laughable.

Of course it would be a Labour government, just that people don’t want to hear what they actually want to do until the populist Tories rip it off and rebrand it as their own.

Just Tory supporters being Tory and some disenfranchised former Labour supporters not knowing where to turn.
