Keir Starmer

I've seen this argument rolled out before.

When both the left and right think you're wrong it confirms only one thing, your political opinion, nothing more.

You might believe something so gobsmakingly bat shit crazy neither left or right advocate it, their rejection would not make you right, besides, so much politics is identitarian now, where you are on the right/left spectrum is not the issue.
First and foremost I will support a party that wants the best for this country and is not institutionally corrupt. That rules out the Tories even before politics come into it.

For every Tory on here, I only wish they were Rags and would piss off to the Sad Caf.
No, it’s good to have them just to remind us just how cunty they are.
The couple of most prominent ones endlessly defend every shithouse action performed by this current abhorrent government without shame.
Fair fucks to them for being indoctrinated to the extent they are. It’s impressive.

In a sad way, it's probably impressive but I shudder at the idea that they are cheering on the team I love.

It’s not really a case of justifying myself. More of taking the opportunity to point out that the current Conservative Party are nothing like the party of 10 years ago. I’ve never made a secret of the fact I’m pretty much a centrist in most of my political views and Blair/Starmer are probably closest to my personal outlook. The fact that makes me a piss taking target for those both on the left and the right suggests I’m probably not mistaken as to where I sit on the political spectrum.
It's amazing how much everything has changed in 10 years. I regard myself as a centrist too, I voted for Cameron and May but I didn't vote for Boris where I voted Lib Dem. Indeed Starmer will get my vote, not so much on policy but rather because the Tories need to be given a huge kicking. I always thought that Sunak would be a reformer but even with a huge majority he seems powerless and totally out of touch.

At the moment we desperately need someone like Blair albeit without the wars. Starmer has understood that sentiment and that's why he'll win, it's why he has purged the more extreme left. Labour are now the only palatable party for the working and middle classes which is basically everyone.

The only risky demographic for Starmer will be the working class right however this shouldn't matter because unlike in 2019 all of those people seem to be abandoning the Tories and will vote for Reform who won't win any seats. I really do think that Labour will win a massive majority.
