Keir Starmer

I see Sir Keith has managed to enrage the left once again, is there no bounds to his stupidity.

Not only does he undermine teachers, trade unions , scientists and parents concerns about returning to school by backing Johnson, he does so in the Daily fucking Mail.

Starmer has an impossible task on his hands.

Labour will never work as a single party ever again thanks to Union influence and the loonies from the SWP who have infiltrated the party. A shame really because this government needs a better opposition.

You do realise that to get elected he needs to appeal to people in the centre ground.

It's sad that you and others on the left think it's your way or the highway as you will probably enable an extrnded period of catastrophic Tory rule.

KS is not a Tory and anyone who thinks he is has lost the plot.

I despise Johnson and find the Tory party a moral vacuum, why on earth would i want a Labour party that is like them, in hoc to neo-liberalism and kow towing to the likes of the Mail and Murdoch. Keith might not be a Tory, but nor is he a Socialist.

The Labour Party was created by the Trade Unions to act as its political representatives in parliament. And as for the SWP, I reckon SWP himself has more influence on the Labour party as the SWP do as they are Trotskyites who are more involved in campaigns like the Stop the War coalition and the Anti Nazi League than they are in Labour party politics.

I do agree though, the Labour Party is pretty much finished, it is split almost irreconcilably between the left and the centrists as they have incompatible ideals and maybe it should split and a new party of the Left is formed and leave the Labour Party to indulge itself in Blairite centrism and failed third way politics. It will mean years of Tory rule of course but in the end it will be for the best. A UK version of the Spanish Podemos could be the way forward, it took only 3 years for that party to become a major force in Spanish politics with its agenda of leftist populism;anti austeriy, anti capitalist politics.

No and this is the problem fella he doesn’t need to appeal to the whole of the Labour Party because the vast majority will vote for them over the Tories every time. What he needs to do is appeal to the centre and then if he gets in move them a bit left by showing the positives of what can be achieved.

This is the absolute best someone of your political stance can hope for, it’s not great for someone with your views and i sympathise but that is your reality.

He needs to convince people he is just a bit left of the Tories, thats how he wins and it’s the only way he wins.

Bingo, again!

And this is where the issue is, if the Labour party moves to just left of the Tories why would a Socialist like myself vote for a party like that? I may as well just vote for the Tories because that is what I would be getting. I will never ever vote Lib Dem even if they offered me a Communist utopia because I don't trust them at all, so I am left with the Green Party or hopefully a new party of the Left that is Socialist.

Starmer has apparently lost 100,000 members since he took over, that's 1/5th of the membership gone and he is losing support of the trade unions, the Labour right/Blairites are emboldened and the left is being purged, making Starmer's stance as being the Unity candidate look rather ridiculous. I actually feel a bit sorry for him, but he has done himself no favours at all, the sacking of RLB, the payouts to the staff, avoiding court, supporting Johnson, writing in the RW press , taking money from corporate interests, haven't exactly made the left warm to him.

I think there will be leadership challenge next year, when this covid stuff is over. The battle for the Labour party is going to be long and drawn out and Keith is going to either have to show his mettle or he will be gone.

Starmer doesn’t need you or others on the far left as people with your views are clearly a minority.

As for losing 100,000 members he probably thinks good riddance. It makes the party more united. I saw a survey a few days ago that said 77% of members were satisfied with his performance versus something like 12% that weren’t.

It doesn’t fit your ideology but Starmer is doing the right thing and because of this the Labour Party is far from finished.

If he's lost 100,000 hard left members how would he now lose a leadership contest?

But seriously, "I may as well just vote for the Tories because that is what I would be getting"? Even though Tony Blair MP was an anagram of I'm Tory Plan B, it really is a shame if you can't see a difference between 1997 to 2010 and what's happened since, and are going to spend all your time attacking Starmer rather than this incompetent centralising lying NHS-selling verminous disgrace of a government.
