Keir Starmer

Phillips got a nice little 'celebrity' article in The Sunday Times.

Rightly or wrongly, the media have a big impact on our perceptions of politicians, so it's a case of having to play the game really and accept that if we want power it's got to be someone the media can tolerate. Phillips also represents a break from Corbyn which the party desperately needs to be seen to be done IMO. If Corbyn and McDonnell simply pave the way for their chosen successor, and it sounds like Rebecca Long-Bailey, I fear more of the same as she'll just get painted as 'Corbyn's girl'.

McCluskey was just on Sky News saying the new leader should be of the newer generation of MP's.

He also said that policy shouldn't change as it was popular with the electorate.

You could be right about RLB.

It should from the new crop from the 2015 elections and after.

Who is anyones guess, let's see who puts up.

I think it is disengenous to these young MPs to say they will be puppets of McDonnel if they become leader, what will be telling is whoever becomes leader who they surround themselve with at shadow cabinet level and who refuses to serve.

Lets have a mancunian take over of the party.

Raynor as leader
Khan as Deputy
Gynne as chancellor
Long baily as home secretary
Powell as foriegn secretary
Kane as education
Smith as defence

RLB would be a terrible mistake by them, and a joy from the Tories' perspective. If it's really badly broke, please don't fix it.

Labour lost not because of Brexit or Corbyn or anti-semitism. But because they are out of touch with the mood of the country. Corbyn in a dress is not the answer.

I have to be honest and say I don't know much about RLB (I've only seen a couple of interviews and she sounded ok tbh) but the one thing I do know is that, if she's been recommended by John McDonnell, we need to listen to him and then do the exact opposite. If he had any clue what the country wanted, Labour wouldn't have suffered its worst defeat since 1935.

Now I am confused, since friday the "moderates" have been calling for corbyn to go now, yet now Jenny Formby has set a time table with the new leader in place by the end of march, they are moaning it is being done quickly so they cannot formulate a choice of candidate.

Red Jonny let the cat out of the bag this morning on his sofa when he said he favoured Long Bailey.
