Keir Starmer

Clive Lewis on Politics Live talking a lot of sense about Labour's need to adapt and look towards a progressive alliance.

Keith smashed Johnsons little tanned arse all over the commons today.

He actually got that narcissistic **** to say sorry. That is a big win. a big big win.

Johnson looked more like a petulant fool as he is usually does, he was ranting and raving like Bercow's wife at a Tory wife swapping party when she ended up with Gove.

A big, big win for the leader of the opposition whose party got 622 votes in last week’s by-election. Johnson will be clearly rattled by this deposit-losing machine.

I think we all agree that Starmer has got his work cut out when voters are happy voting for the lying buffoon, whose shouting gets louder the more he lies.

Batley and Spen will decide Keith's fate.

Even though he will blame it on grass route supporters not working hard enough...

I was discussing on the picket line last Sunday about the UNITE general sec election will shape the trade unions relationship with Labour. And is it time the movement repeated history and start a new political party.

Starmer doesn't want manual workers representing the people as MPs in his party. He wants lawyers, and so called professional white collar workers who are secure enough to pontificate to people who aren't. They will tut and sympathise at people they see below them and throw a tiny bone which they will deem enough to soothe their own conscious.

First past the post kills third parties.

Starmer wants the left to leave, he's actively encouraging it, those who leave the Labour Party tent realise pretty quickly they're wandering in the desert.

Ask Chukka Umunna.

We could have another general election before then. Covid controlled and economic bounce etc.

We could, but what for? 80 odd seat majority, with three and a half years before this parliament ends.

Unless you think the Brexit shit will hit the fan and Johnson dashes to the polls before it does.

Either way Labour takes forever to change leader and Starmer will hang on to the bitter end, a year from now maybe we'll have a new leader of the opposition but that won't solve anything. It's not likely to be a left wing winner but if it is the PLP and the establishment will kill them off like they did Jeremy Corbyn and if the leader is from the right the party will be back where it started.

Even if Burnham could stand, a smile and an amiable personality are not enough now, the party is like a broken marriage, it stays together only because there's no viable alternative and the electorate knows it and won't vote for it.

Mrs Balls will be the anointed one.
