Keir Starmer

Sadly the people he wants their votes from will see the skewed news headlines of a defiant prime minister who's removed plan B COVID restrictions to improve the economy etc...
We'll have the Covid inquiry report before the next election. Johnson today was claiming Labour would have kept us in lockdown longer, but the report (if honest) will remind everyone that Labour was saying we should have locked down sooner when the Spanish and Italians were warning us and Johnson was "vacillating".

Starmer cracked a few funnies that hit the target. Liked his "Apology must have been written by a Lawyer" line.

If he shows that humourous side the voters he's after might warm to him more.

I can’t see it. Labour and starmer still don’t appeal to large swathes of the country.

we’ve got the two main parties which are atrocious in my opinion. For me personally Labour locally are doing a terrible job (Stockport council). The local Lib Dem/ conservatives are doing a better job.

Aren't the LDs the majority party in Stockport?

It’s under Lib Dem minority control at the minute, which means it’s been very difficult policy wise. Labour mps seem determined to move the main library (big backlash) and build on large areas of countryside. We had a Labour candidate who didn’t live in the area and most people had never seen. The conservative/ Lib Dem’s candidates were from the area and actually represented people.

im just talking locally here and I’m not in cheadle anymore, otherside of Stockport

Ok. Doesn’t exactly marry up to what I know there, but not far off.

just telling you what I know. I haven’t been impressed with them at all. The best representation I’ve seen is with the independents (head green rate payers)
I know there have been huge divisions between LD and Labour and they’re basically cancelling each other out as neither will budge.

One of my best friend’s wives is a councillor in Stockport and says it’s hugely frustrating.

Labour wants to builds houses on green fields. What's your house built on?

Libraries are used more if they're in a location with passing trade, like a shopping centre. It does seem a bit odd to leave the existing listed building with no future use sorted.

But it sounds like you don't know that much about who's running the council.

really don't think he lands the blows he should. Angela Raynor has been much better in her brief stand in appearances. Trouble is that Starmer does not come across with any passion or socialist princpls.

she's nowhere near as good as him at the dispatch box, he is way more calm, clear and measured and makes Boris a laughing stock every week.
