Keir Starmer

New labour did do some good things , but most were done by using quick fix ideas like tax credits or asbos rather than trying to rebuild areas devastated by de-indutrialisation and years of Thatchers change to society.

Nearly all the achievements were easily and quickly undone by cameron because no long term planning was achieved.

Also instead of investment and rebuilding places like thw north he rellied on shifting us to a financial services based economy rather than a mixed one and rellied on private investment on public service, something that has bit our health, transport and education services hard.

Only two PMs have really effected long term change to this country post war Attlee and Thatcher other legacies have been quicky reversed.

Blair is only really remembered now because of Iraq

Blair definitely made huge changes that will and have affected us in the long term.

Blair and Jack Straw encouraged mass immigration to radically change the country as a purposeful policy, not by incompetence, they wanted it and actively encouraged it, as much as they possibly could.

The word ‘immigration’ was banned from Cabinet meetings, briefings were made to label anyone a racist or objected, they tore down all obstacles refugees needed to meet to confirm they were refugees, which meant 100,000’s came as refugees who were really economic migrants.

This is part lead eventually to Brexit in my opinion. The mass scale of globalisation both radically changed the country and worried people.

Education, he effectively ruined the level of education in the country and the Tories still haven’t put it back to where it was. In fact the crash and subsequent cuts ensured education was finished in Britain.

The liberal centre left have taken over every institution, education, the civil service, BBC etc. and this was what Blair wanted, we’re still feeling the affect now of this.

Blair engaged in a revolution, it wasn’t one at the point of bayonets, revolutions these days are far far more subtle.

Traditional Conservatism lost a long time ago and Blair made sure of that. Just look at how every time a conservative puts his head above the water how he’s shot down as a bigot.

And sneering luvvies like her and the rest of them have done your party
up like a kipper. Just listen to some of the interviews and comments
from before the GE, these people are mocked and derided, and justly so.

And there you have it. Anti-intellectualism. You know what it gets you? 43,000 dead that’s what it gets you. Is that a pricing worth paying to assuage your festering resentment and sense of inadequacy?

I do remember him.

There needs to be employment tribunals for sure, when anyone is treated like shit but I don’t believe there’s a need for unions to run the show anymore, I think they abused their power too.

Most tradesman are self employed anyway these days.
Problem is that employment tribunals cost the taxpayer money. It's much better if it doesn't get to that point, although with some parties there is sometimes no alternative.
I work for the Civil Service, which actually encourages each employee to join a union. Why? Because a good union rep doesn't just act on behalf of the employee but should also be advising when an issue shouldn't go any further: in other words if it has no substance. There are other reasons too.
I agree some reps are all about themselves and looking for a row at any opportunity, but these are a tiny minority.

The purge of the left continues. The Labour party is now nothing more than a throwback to the Blairite years, pro capitalist, pro-imperialism, pro American, pro- neo liberalism, pro- EU, pro Israel, pro Tory, Pro identity politics, pro liberal values, pro metropolitan liberal elite, probably pro trident replacement, Starmer has moved the party so far right its under the bed sheets with Johnson and his crony capitalists.

A fucking disgusting day in Labour Party History, its no wonder Johnson gets away with lying and complacency as he knows he can be PM for 20 years because the mass movement is no more, Labour is shedding members quicker than the swamp emptied at the 1-6, the members that are leaving are the ones who do the hard yards campaigning, the ones who deliver the party leaflets, Starmer has basically told them all today he doesn't want them in his party, they no longer fit. Good luck to him getting the metro elites out campaigning on the door steps, maybe they can send nanny like Mogg. The red wall will not return to Labour any time soon, it will be the party of the big cities, London, Manchester and maybe Newcastle, the rest will go, maybe even Manchester will have tories once again.

The right wing have won , the country is lurching further to the right by the day and there is no true left opposition. Whats left of Labour will become like the American Democrats, two cheeks of the same pro free market arse.

The only saving grace as I see it is leaving the EU will at least offer the chance for a rebirth of traditional Labour party values, it wont be the Labour party, I think its finished , but maybe a new party of the left, that is patriotic, values family life, is pro working class, believes that immigration should be controlled, values the nations institutions and believes in true Socialist principles of equality of opportunity and " From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs " is a treasured value, where Unions have proper rights and above all democracy is valued again.

Today is my lowest point of being a Labour supporter in my 50 years of political sentience, today the party i loved died on me.

Vive le revolution., stay strong comrades.
I'd have to argue losing the last election by an absolute mile to one of the most incompetent parties I've ever seen in my short lifespan on this earth would be worse.

I believe in many socialist principles but honestly what is the point in being an idealogue if you can never affect change? The country has made it pretty clear on what it's opinion of a Corbyn style government is, even if I don't necessarily agree with the country.

I'd have rather have a left leaning party at the helm, than stick rigidly to my principles while a Tory party continues to screw things up even more.

Im not for ridding the world of unions, they do offer something for sure, I just don’t want them dictating and holding the country to ransom again.

Those 2 days a week you are legally guaranteed to have off. The unions.
Minimum 4 weeks hols a year. The unions.
8 bank holidays a year off. The unions.
Virtually all H&S in the work place. The unions.
Employment protections. The unions.
The fact that until about 40 years ago you could get a shop floor job and buy your own house, own a car, and maybe have a holiday every year. The unions.
The fact that the nhs is still almost free. The unions.
Every pay rise you've ever had. The unions.
The fact that right wing types often reminisce about how society used to be a lot kinder in the old days? They're right it did. Because people used to care about their neighbour. The unions.

You're welcome you shower of ungrateful, swallowed-the-kool-aid, took the benefits of the unions sacrifices but now want to deny my children the same opportunities, cunts.

You deserve the cunts we have in power today. And remember, when they come for your job, your livelihood, your freedoms, because of your own selfish actions there will likely be no union to protect you.

I hope some of you cunts starve.

I think Thatcher saw to that, whilst seeking to go to the other extreme by trying to obliterate them entirely. The year she was elected PM the first time is known as "Year Zero" in union circles ;-)

To be honest I was impressed by the effective use of the word ‘cunts’. I’m giving this post a solid 8 out of 10 and a thumbs up.
