Keir Starmer

But he didn't once expose government incompetence or cronyism and never once pointed to the govs weak points, he gave nothing answers and wouldn't answer on brexit or what should be done next and the two national issues covid and brexit, as in 12 weeks while probably back in lockdown and us in a possible fucked up exit from europe we are probably shagged.

Just the government need to plan and we will back that plan.

He said this morning the square root of fuck all on anything.

Well no when asked about policies said he didn't need any till 4 years time.
That interview was a masterclass in avoiding having an opinion. If you have no views they can't be attacked. At the heart of this is Starmers need to head off civil war within the deeply divided Labour party. Once he actually sets out a clear range of views he will please either the left or right within the party, but not both.

But honestly bar the loons on SM most of the left of the party have stayed and not flounced like the right side did, but his blandness and not wanting to have an opinion people may not like is really starting to wanr on some, have an opinion man I may disagree with it, but at least fucking have one.

Fair enough.

Typical of the modern breed. Interesting you mention SM. As soon as he dares to have an opinion twitter will reduce it to 140 characters, and like reducing a sauce will make it stronger / more extreme. The debate around it will then become polarised and it'll go full on class wars with everyone claiming to be outraged / offended or otherwise downtrodden. The conservative party probably can't believe their luck - every time a labour politician tries to have an opinion one faction within Labour will scream either 'Blairite' or 'Marxist' and they all fight each other.

You can tell the new breed of politicians, they use that stupid non offensive fist point rather that a good old pointing the finger.

Cunts

I sometimes think just calling each other cunts might lead to better debate in the commons.

May I say thank you to my opposite the Honourable **** for Woking and thank the twat for prior sight of his fucking useless statement.

That sort of thing lol?

I don't understand why you think its the far left.

Starmer has purged the party of virtually the whole left and its the centrists that remain, Socialism is a word that is not spoken anymore, so why does the Labour party even exist. I do not trust him, he used big business to fund his leadership campaign and writes in the RW media, that indicates to me he is going to take the party rightwards and embrace the principles of Blairism, which is pro-free market, anti Trade Union, economically neo-liberal and socially liberal.

How the party is still one party at all surprises me, because if i was a Labour MP i would have done the honourable thing and resigned the party whip and stood in Parliament as an Independent Socialist.

I get that some don't trust him but as far as I know, I've not seen him renege on anything pertaining to the Corbyn manifesto?

Writing in the Mail or the Sun is just a common sense strategy to get elected. He has to appeal to the majority of the country in order to get elected. He can't just preach to the choir.

Personally, I don't think he's moved far enough away from Corbynism to get elected and I think that'll be the problem for the majority of voters.

@Rascal

I’m still grieving mate.

We had a once in a lifetime chance to change the country for the better. People believed the lies and the fear and put these Tory bastards in charge.

I wish I i had an alternative that I could join would fight for real positive change. I was in Nottingham East which is a swing constituency and Nadia is a proper Labour MP with her principles and work ethic. I’m now in Nottingham South. Lilian Greenwood has a pretty safe seat.

I feel as though I have to hold my nose and vote for her whilst at the same time agitating at my branch to push for the election policies to remain. Covid 19 has saved Starmer from from a conference kicking.

Pet hate of mine especially during election time that posters hold their nose and vote for a party they do not currently believe in.

You cannot and will not get change if people keep supporting parties on the basis they are not as bad as another and whose ideas conflict with their own.

On Sky now and apart from him starting by saying they will support the government and then saying he was angry about 20 times, he manages to say nothing of note.

Wooden, soulless leader of the opposition against one of it not the worst PM in our history.

Politics is truly fucked in this nation.

"A New Leadership" my arse.

It's not just him though his whole team with the exception of Raynor are soulless. Tories no better Sunack/Sharma only ones with any appeal.

I've said it before. Parliament is choc full of absolute nobodies. Political pygmies.

The choice the electorate has is appalling.

Did Ruth Smeeth introduce Starmer for his speech like a dumbstruck schoolgirl?

And Corbyn was accused of leading a cult....

Thought it was a well pitched speech - distinguishing himself from the previous leader and the clown currently in No. 10 and appealing to the values of red wall voters - but if unfairly slagging him off makes you feel better about voting for Johnson then whatever turns you on.

I'm shocked that you didn't like it.
The speech was bang on to be fair to him. Although my concern was with the emphasis on patriotism. The general tone was right. He couldn't be flippant or make jokes as with previous leaders speeches because of the times were in. Sadly it's bound to get lost in the media sea as soon as Boris announces lockdown 2 in 20 minutes.

Your shiny new wooden toy is just that Len, wooden.

Don't you worry your pretty little head about my vote or my reasoning for it or how i sleep at night because the answer is, very well thanks, no regrets at all.

Starmer? Another resounding defeat at the next GE and another Tory government.

If time travel is invented by the next GE his mastery of hindsight may make him an excellent PM. The bloke has perfected the art of fence sitting.
