Keir Starmer

Anyway back to Keith, it is telling that Stephen Bush ex of Progress the Labour right wing supporting magazine that loved Blair writes in this weeks Statesman that he is having doubts about Starmer and his tactics. Says Keith is too cautious and has yet to prove he is a better option than Johnson. Hardly a ringing endorsement of Keith that, as my cactus plant Colin would make a better PM than Johnson.

Yeah, and Colin the cactus plant is a prick too.

Progress are the real shit stirrers and trouble makers in labour.
They have caused so much issues internally and externally every since they were invited into the fold.

What's bugging me about him is his relentless campaigning for more support for x, y and z. He is just pandering to the popular vote with no thoughts about how the country is going to pay for everything.

Today's he is shaming the government for putting up council taxes to pay for care. Who exactly does he think is going to pay for all of this? It's the easiest job in the world to do the square root of fuck all and stand on the side criticising everything and having only one solution, a national lockdown.

I'm yet to see any Labour policies about where the money will come from. He's a charlatan.
I'm not into politics but this is bang on.

I've never ever known anyone whos job is literally to stand and critisize absolutely everything no matter what it is. That's literally all he does.

There's nothing positive from him, no compassion, no personality, nothing.

His sole purpose in life is to complain... He's essentially a Karen.

What I want is for the government to work together, it doesn't matter if they're the opposition in all this. We're All humans going through the worst time in living memory and therfore there is no opposition. We're ALL in the same boat, looking for a way out.

We need positivity, not some cretin who just critisizes everything he possibly can do for some perceived and currently non-existent political gain.

I wish he'd fuck right off tbh.

That’s why he’s voted with the government on a lot of the pandemic measures though, to be fair. He’s called for exactly what you’re asking for there, there hasn’t been any cross party committees set up that would have enabled that proper unified government though.

I’m not a big fan of him, but he’s really in a no win situation if he’s being criticised for there not being something in place that he has specifically asked for but doesn’t have the power to implement. The government are onto a real winner there if the opposition gets blamed for something entirely within the governments own control. It’s bizarre logic.

They might as well change their name to Blue Labour. Backed by.leaft leaning, affluent Tory donors.

I don't really agree. I've not seen a single shred of positivity from him.

Even when they announced the 3rd lockdown he said "I agree because now is not the time to critisize the government for their delays" and by saying that, even then in this most desperate moment, he has managed to worm in critisism. Its not the time nor the place.

What he should be saying is "absolutely, stay home, protect the NHS and save lives" and that's it. But he can't help himself.

There are two types of PMs, those that rise above people in order to lead and those who push others down in order to be above them.

He's a pusher, spends all his life telling the world how everyone else is doing it wrong without commiting himself to a course which itself could be picked apart. He's a first class cretin of the highest order.

Did he actually say that quote you’ve put there?

That’s essentially saying there should be no scrutiny of the government at all. He absolutely should still be holding them to account that the lockdown didn’t come in sooner than it did, likewise multiple other issues with how we’ve dealt with the pandemic. There is no more important time and place to be doing it than right now. I’m not sure how that’s compatible with what you wanted in your first post in terms of them working together more too, given the whole point of that would be to ensure the scrutiny and discussion is done together and up front.

I think you’re buying into the projection the government have been pushing around calling him captain hindsight a bit tbh with that last bit. He’s been pushing similar measures to the government throughout, at least in terms of lockdown, just quicker than they are themselves.

What he shouldn’t be doing, and hasn’t, is block any of the governments responses to it. He’s voted their measures in throughout though.

Mate, I don't pretend to be into politics and you could very well be right about a whole host of things.

That said, the very fact that I've never heard a single word of positivity from him and only ever heard him critisise everyone and everything speaks volumes.
You cannot constantly critisise without offering something yourself. You're your own person and may be willing to overlook it but I'm not. Everytime I heard him spike it's vile and cowardly.

And yes, he really did say that following the live announcement of the lockdown.

The other thing that isn't right, I'm someone who has studied and worked in people management for years. He is constantly coming out and "demanding" this, that and the other.
He shouldn't be demanding anything, his mannerisms and language is a million miles from where it should be. Demanding things is not the way to achieve anything.
As I said, absolute cretin.

What I would like to see is some open debate about the way forward. I saw Matt Hancock this morning being asked if he had spoke to Tony Blair about Covid and he refused to answer. Why?
Why do they feel shame for asking for advice, support, assistance.

Politicians as a whole are unpleasant but Kier is one which stands out for the wrong reasons even beyond those.

Yeah agree with a lot of that in terms of his delivery and like I said, I’m not a big fan of him either. I just don’t want there to be no criticism or scrutiny of the government either.

This.

That's why he's currently got his acting chair suspending anyone who even outs a motion in to debate his actions.

What if it's Jamesons
Depends which one. A punter got me a personalised bottle of the Black Barrel for my 50th, which I promised to keep for a rainy day, which ended up being a month later, which I really enjoyed, but I think that Irish whiskey is inferior to Scottish malt and ‘standard‘ Jameson's is alright, but nothing more. Not really fan of bourbon either, although I’ve been known to drink that too from time to time!
