Keir Starmer

Some interesting gains going under the radar for Labour/Greens/Lib Democrats from Con in the South.
Certainly no earthquake but suggests the local election results are slightly more nuanced than initially thought.

Tracy Brabin winning the West Yorkshire mayoral election means a by-election in Batley & Spen. This is a heavily Leave constituency and Brabin only had a 3500 majority in 2019.

More pain for Starmer I reckon (if he is still in post by then).

Whilst the SNP hold nearly all of the Scottish seats that were a given for Labour, I see no way back into power for Labour.
Labour have also missed the chance, unpalatable for lots of old Labour, to move into the centre ground in move to get Elected.
At this rate I can see the Greens forming a Government before Labour.
The Electorate have shown time and time again they have no appetite for any Government that has even the slightest Socialist leanings.
Labour is still run by a Solcialist element who have failed to recognise this truth for decades.
After each Electoral low point they just seem to insanely demand even more radically socialist policies as do posters on here.

Off the wall suggestion.
Should Starmer go full on blue wall?
Just askin' for a mate called Keith.

He should go full opposition seeing as he is the leader of Her Majesties Opposition. He gets his best press when he drags Johnson over the despatch box at PMQ's and thrusts a red hot poker up his arse with forensic questioning that see's Johnson floundering.

Instead of agreeing fucking oppose man. Strike at his / their soft spots, he's a man who doesn't know how many kids he has, he is a man who avoids the truth. Starmer needs to keep bringing up the Jenrick, Hancock dodgy deals, the damage being done to British industry by Brexit and the border that he and Lewis say doesn't exist.

Gove is a slimy **** but today on Ridge he was giving an object lesson on how to give an interview - take questions - then give the answer to the question you wanted to be asked whilst steering the conversation onto the topics he wanted it to be about. Not sure whether its Starmer or his team but it seems that ability is beyond them so he ends up agreeing with what the Govt are doing then the news cuts away to another story - woeful.

Labour are fucked whoever they chose to be in charge of rearranging the deckchairs.
They need to start listening to the concerns of the working/lower classes and stop being the party of middle class university educated left wingers.
Chosing a Remain candidate for Hartlepool? Idiocy on a grand scale.
Doesn’t take a genius to work it out does it???
Stubborn self serving middle class university educated debaters telling the working class what they have decided is best for them
Maybe it’s not worked so far for a reason.... no they will come round!

All of these socialist champions like Owen Jones, ash saker seem to be doing well out of it
Maybe they don’t want to win
Easier to march and oppose absolutely everything than actually make a difference
To these cunts it’s a career.

Starmer and his PLP clique still live in 97.

The members live in the present. Numerous policy motions have been rejected or downright ignored by him. Plenty on the fallout over Brexit which he seems to be in denial of the result.
Seem to recall labour had a good year in 97?
Had a guy in charge who was both inspiration to left and right, while offering hope to millions and most importantly looked like he could lead the country (sorry kier, Ed, Jeremy, Gordon)
Maybe they need more policies like the 90s, but avoid needless wars and kissing America’s arse.
The members idea of going back to foot and kinnock doesn’t seem well thought out

Are you a member or generalising Labour party members?

Are you a member or generalising Labour party members?
generalising members from what I see.
I am a person has voted labour all his life until the last 4 years and now feels he can’t vote for them unless they sort their act out
Which looks further else at than ever
I don’t see them offering hope more just being happy to oppose
And you get elected by the electorate not the party members.

Turning ever more inwards instead of reaching out a descent into madness, I think. Replacing the inept and out of touch Dodds with an equally out of touch rightwinger Rachel Reeves. There will be no transformative agenda on the economy, public investment infrastructure and the environment only more of the same triangulation shite.

Sad really but I don't think we will see the change needed until baby boomers are in the ground. The death of the Labour party beckons. The soft left and radicals should peg themselves to the green party and let Keith sink what remains into irrelevance.

Its worked on you then I see.

The country does not have a credit card, it also has assets that far outweigh any debt, we have our own currency so can not go bankrupt.

We have only just recently finished paying off loans from WW1, because countries borrow to invest. If you waited for taxes to be collected before they are spent, like in a household where you cannot spend until you get paid, this country would no longer exist.
The idea that a country with its own currency cannot become bankrupt is demonstrable nonsense.
It has been pushed by the left for some years now and was a response, in this country at least, to heavy tory cuts.
You cannot print money (or sell assets) indefinitely as the currency becomes debauched and worthless. Markets will not accept it and you cannot then pay for imports. You are bankrupt.
Zimbabwe provides a modern example. The Zim dollar fell to one millionth of its launch value and was abandoned. Zim internal transactions had to be in scarce foreign currency such as the euro. The value of the Zim dollar was less than the cost of printing it and the piles of notes became useful only as doorstops.
Eventually Zimbabwe launched a new Zim dollar. How that has fared, I'm not sure.
UPDATE
The latest version of the Zim dollar was subject to an inflation rate of 350% p.a. as at Jan this year. The government holds auctions of foreign currency each week, so transactions are more stable.

I agree with the first line.

Just a couple of questions though

What do you believe to be the concerns of the working class? And how do you/or why do other people think the Tories addressed and continue to address these concerns?

I begrudgingly admire the Tories, they've been able to con the working class into thinking that the Labour Party is for middle class, university educated left wingers, whilst at the same time convincing the middle class that the Labour Party is full of extreme socialists/communists wanting to turn the country into another Venezuela.

Agree with your last line too, Brexit is the turd that won't flush.

In other words, vote Green and elect yet more Tories.

It certainly doesn’t, but Labour are starkly displayed on here, still calling voters thick and uneducated. Add in the types you describe, and Labour’s pandering to both,
and the upshot is what happened Thursday. Which begs the question, who exactly are the thick ones?

Owen Jones is a Liberal and Ash Sarkar is a Communist.

And the right always come out with Zimbabwe to discredit it without realising Zimbabwe's circumstances.

It is is utter nonsense

you cannot bankrupt a country with its own currency and own central bank.
