For me Starmer would probably be a very capable prime minister but he seems terrified to tell us how and why he would.
He needs to come up with a long term plan for this country with fairness at its core. Not 5 years but 10 or more years. Be honest with the electorate, tell them what you stand for and what your ideas are, and they will vote for him if they aren’t bat shit crazy and fair. I can’t recall a single idea he has put forward; we’ve had him bleating on about partygate and it looks like he’s been up to no good himself, we’ve had a windfall tax for the cost of living crisis - which is both disingenuous and a bit “typical left”. Everything is knee jerk, designed for the here and now, and lacks any vision. He’s had long enough to come up with some moderate plans but I suspect he’ll leave it to the election - which is the wrong approach with our politics in the state it is. Rise above it.
Let’s hear how Labour will genuinely level up this country - this is surely a core Labour/ moderate left idea and their bread and butter - but not only that it’s also what this country will vote for in their millions. I’m not talking about taxing the rich or better off until they squeak (that’s unfairness) or creating make believe jobs (as Blair was accused) but actually a plan, to invest for the long term. It’ll give the country time to digest it, to debate it, to allow him to fine tune it.
