Farage was all for this a year ago.
Bet he's not pushing it now it doesn't suit
People could identify with Prescott and he stayed true to his roots continuing to live in Hull. Rayner epitomises everything that is wrong with some politicians.Rayner like Prescott was supposed to appease the back benches and unions but, it didn't work out.
You're r right, folding on certain policies has caused some of the fiscal issues, strong leadership was needed and he folded like a cheap suit.
Other policies like cutting winter fuel allowance didn't raise much and werent worth the backlash.
Yes and what a tool he made. What was he supposed to do about the fuel price spike ? He has taken action on price gauging, he has taken action on energy bills more to follow, he has taken action on heating oil. The is probably getting a bit of extra money from tax but also spending more on borrowing etc. What if the straight opened the day after the announced any action they are then spending money they don’t have on something that’s going away as in issue.
Too posh ? Boris ? Farage ? Mogg etc etc his father was a tool maker don’t you know.
He only ever wanted to be leader/PM. He has no political convictions whatsoever. He could equally be a Tory or LibDem PM as a Labour one.His name has become synonymous with incompetence and failure which makes him toxic to the hopes and ambitions of the Labour party.
If he is indeed the leader that he is reputed to be, for the good of the party he should be acknowledging the need for fresh leadership and committing to a timetable within which that will happen.
But plenty across the political spectrum clearly are.He only ever wanted to be leader/PM. He has no political convictions whatsoever. He could equally be a Tory or LibDem PM as a Labour one.
Both he and Johnson wanted the position more than they wanted to use it for the benefit of the country. The only thing in Starmer's favour is that he's not a blatant grifter like Johnson.
For Labour members read the post properly, the Tories always have Eton types and they don't resonate with the working classes hence labour strongholds in the cities. What was he supposed to do about the fuel price spike ? Boris did well in the North working areas so does Farage, Mogg must have some appeal outside his posh area or he wouldn’t be on tv so much. For Labour members read the post properly, the Tories always have Eton types and they don't resonate with the working classes hence labour strongholds in the cities.
He should have cut the fuel duty till it blows over and been strong on forecourts taking the piss.
Not difficult stuff really.
I must have imagined the 10p a litre price difference from one place to another moggy must appeal to the working classes , I needed a laugh today cheeky :-)Boris did well in the North working areas so does Farage, Mogg must have some appeal outside his posh area or he wouldn’t be on tv so much.
The forecourt have been investigate they have cut energy prices
As a matter of interest, what backhanders has Farage received? Or is it just that you object to politicians having income from outside politics? But plenty across the political spectrum clearly are.
Nigel Farage being one massive **** in the identical mould as Johnson.
Blatant being the operative word.He only ever wanted to be leader/PM. He has no political convictions whatsoever. He could equally be a Tory or LibDem PM as a Labour one.

.... agreed.... but is that not PREICISELY what Starmer has done, is doing right now and planning to do going forward? He has not read the room, he has not listened and he is going ahead with a flawed plan. We need more than words.About the only thing you can guarantee is that he'll act in his interests rather than the country's.

I think he was being sarcastic. Well I hope he was anyway.I presume you missed the £5m - income for what exactly ??
I actually object to liars and grifters, Farage being both.

Very well put. 100% agree.Yes I think it probably is, but in quite a different way.
I think there's a high chance that Starmer does actually believe he's doing the right thing and is simply operating from a place of delusion and/or arrogance. In Farage's case I think his primary objective is and has always been material gain and power as an adjunct. He's already shown multiple times he's comfortable with undermining our national interests to that end.
Starmer cannot or refuses to see the wood for the trees. Whereas Farage is calmly eyeing everything up and has got the logging company on speed dial.
Imo neither are acting in our best interests at this point. One never has been and the other is refusing to accept he is facilitating the further rise of the former. It's all getting a bit Shakespearean..
Today's society seems full of hate. Why do people *hate* Starmer. I understand why people may disagree with him, find him incompetent or a poor communicator etc but I don’t know where the *hate* comes from
Because of social media. It drives hate and division for clicks. Why do people *hate* Starmer. I understand why people may disagree with him, find him incompetent or a poor communicator etc but I don’t know where the *hate* comes from
